Author's Note: So the prompt for this was Marius and “I would do me.” I am not at all creative enough to have actually worked that into Les Miserables, but hopefully this will do.
Dedication:
For monjinator,
Hopefully I’ve used the prompt enough, it was really hard for me to think of it so it’s kind of there in spirit.
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters, I don’t own their stories, I don’t even own this computer. Feel free to sue me, but I doubt you’ll get very much.

”A vision in white,” he had called her. Marius laid one protective hand on each of his new wife’s small shoulders and whispered gentle compliments into her ear. She blushed modestly, and insisted he was only exaggerating.

“Come stand in front of the mirror,” he said, pulling her gently by one hand. “And tell me this is not the most beautiful woman you have ever seen.”

Cosette stepped forward cautiously, her mind filled with his compliments. Still in her wedding dress, with her hair done elegantly, she now had the added beauty of perfect happiness glowing in her eyes and a modest rouge on her cheeks. She saw Marius watching her, he looked enchanted…she was excited by his stare (though she did not yet understand why). She looked at herself again, this time remembering his passion and as though seeing herself through his eyes, an appearance she had thought only somewhat better than ordinary moments ago seemed multiplied.

“Well?” Marius pressed insistently. “Is it not as I said? Is she not an image of god’s angels?”

Cosette bit her lip. “She seems nowhere near as handsome as the man behind her,” she finally replied piously. In her mind, however, she had to confess she could understand where he was coming from.
