Author’s Note: This is my spn_cinema fic for the prompt Pokémon franchise. It has nothing to do with any of the movies; actually, I've never seen any of the movies. This is all to do with the game and the TV show. Uh, both of which make up 89% of my childhood (real math here people, real math). So…this fic. Basically. What even, Cherie? I don't know. I just…I really loved playing Pokémon, okay? Don't judge me? No, probably do judge me for this one. I think I might deserve to be judged. LOOK, I DON'T EVEN KNOW, OKAY. I got this idea like a year ago and it just MADE SO MUCH SENSE. And now I have written it and maybe it makes sense to no one else on the planet, but it continues to make sense to me. If you're wondering why only the original 150 Pokémon are referenced here, it's not because I am some anti-new-Pokémon snob but because all the new ones were added at around the time I was getting too old to still be as into Pokémon as I was and I was like, "Whoa, whoa, what? I could keep track of 150 but how the balls am I supposed to collect them all if YOU GUYS DO NOT EVEN KNOW HOW MANY THERE ARE ANYMORE?! Cherie out." Anyway, I'm sorry for this fic only I'm not really. I *am* sorry to anyone who reads it. I stole the poke ball divider from here. Title is from the song-DON'T PRETEND YOU DON'T KNOW WHICH SONG I AM TALKING ABOUT BECAUSE YOU DO. A big thank you to both clex_monkie89, who was originally going to do art for this and then her computers all exploded at once, and mashimero, who stepped in at the VERY LAST minute when she heard Clex couldn't do art and offered and produced this gorgeous piece with WERENINETALES!JENSEN who has FRECKLES LIKE OMG. She cannot resist the siren song of Pokémon, poor dear. Also: I made my stand-in Bill the inventor of the Pokédex instead of my stand-in Professor Oak. Full disclosure.
Summary: Pokémon AU: Like most kids his age, Jared left home at 18, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, determined to become a Pokémon master. Five years later, the plan has changed a bit-Jared traded in his gym badge collection for a better adventure, a chance to do some good. Now he's what you might call an eco-terrorist; he finds abusive Pokémon masters and, well, persuades them to free their Pokémon. Jared doesn't believe in keeping Pokémon as pets, but he frees a Ninetales from Team Rocket that will not stop following him. In addition to his new, fire-type plus one, Jared keeps bumping into a very forward, very handsome, green-eyed stranger. He doesn't know who Jensen is, why he seems to be everywhere Jared goes, or why his Ninetales takes off every time Jensen is near, but he's very much enjoying trying to figure it out.
