Today was the last day of the Great Lakes Regional for FIRST Robotics. As most know, FIRST has been a very large part of my life for the past four years. I quit Berkley's team as it slowly and steadily got raped and ripped apart. I joined a team in Ypsilanti and we could only afford to go to one regional. My choice was: Berkley and 2 Regionals + Nationals or Ypsi and 1 Regional + Nationals if we qualify.

Yesterday, our team won Leadership in Control award for our gloves which control our wings. (Robot Pictures) Winning that qualified us for nationals and travel arrangements are being made. Today, after a good showing, we sat in 16th place. Sadly, we were not picked for elimination rounds but that's the way the cookie crumbles. We won a special award called the "Engineering Inspiration" award. This is for all of the hard work we have done inside and outside of FIRST itself.

I'm am very glad I joined this team. They are a great bunch of people. Energetic, intellegent, and dedicated. I'm very proud of what we have all accomplished together this year.

Tami came with me out to GLR today instead of going riding. Her mom grounded her from riding but allowed her to come to my competition.. coincidence? I think not. Either way, Tami was there with me and now she understands why I was bitching and complaining and leaving and and and and and... she understands why she had to put up with me for so long during the build season and what I was off accomplishing. The team really seemed to like her. She came with us to our team dinner (upon request of the mentors). After some laughs there, we headed home and rented Stealing Harvard.

We fell asleep on eachother who knows how many times after that movie and before I took her home. Every so often my mom would call out asking me to do something.. let out dog, turn down tv.. etc. Tami was waking up when my mom called out but I wasn't, she had to shake me a few times to get me awake. Really weird waking up to be shaken by your girlfriend, but it's still good. I'd rather wake up next to her than anything or anyone else.

I've had a very good weekend. I have Tami, was a driver for FIRST competitions, and I will be going to Houston in 3 weeks.. I can't think of much more that I could want.
