I have the Treo in my hands. It arrived in the mail yesterday, and I've been playing with it ever since. Yes, you read that right. Purchased Thursday 9am, paid Friday 2am, shipped Friday 2pm, received Saturday 12pm. Talk about fast. I was slightly worried about it, because yaknow, buying expensive things on ebay is a gamble. But I came out way ahead on this deal. The phone was literally not used and still in the wrapping. She had to take it out in order to unlock it, but beyond that, the phone's pristine.
An interesting side note is that it does not contain a camera, while the normal version of the Treo does. Personally that's perfect for me, because I don't like taking pictures with phones and such; also, the camera on this phone is particularly bad at 0.3 megapixels. So I don't have one, and it was way cheaper for it.
The call I put in for the internets-on-my-phone went through tonight, so I was browsing the web on my handheld. It was both cool and frustrating at the same time. It's hard to read stuff, and the browser shuffles things around to optimize it for the tiny screen.
First opinions:
- Amazing battery life. I've been playing with it, browsing the web, making calls for 30 hours now, and it's still at 60% battery. Wow.
- Internet access is way cool
- I'm having trouble with where the "normal" phone operations are hidden away. Slowly I'm finding them. Maybe I should read the manual (nah ...)
- I need to buy like $70 in accessories to protect this thing and use it well. This includes a case, screen protectors, and one of those bluetooth headsets.
- Man I got a great deal!
I just started entering addresses & phone numbers into the phone. Tomorrow at work if I have any spare time, I'm going to try and sync the phone up over bluetooth to my Powerbook, because I have gobs of names/addresses/phone #s on there. It would save me a lot of time to do it that way. That and I want to try to get my Powerbook to use the internet through the phone. That would be killer.
Ok, off to bed.
