just a quick "I'm alive"

Dec 22, 2005 20:03

I'm alive. 'tis confirmed, the army is over. That is, all the evil nasty parts. I've handed in my rifle. I've gotten my christmas leave greenlighted (from Friday tomoz 'till Sunday after new year's - w00t). I even watched Full Metal Jacket today, and could conclude that - heck, except the slapping and the obscenities and the senseless mental and physical torture them recruits got to go through, it's almost the same!

Harr. Enough, enough. I should now write down a summary of the whole Niinisalo ordeal, for my own reading when I get old and gray (barring LJ dying or having a massive database-wipe before that), but it is already getting rather blurry in my mind. It wasn't that bad ('onest), everyone pretty much agreed that we've had worse. But it was long. And down halfway of it, I was so broken I got physically ill and couldn't operate at even half-speed. Luckily, the guys were real sports about it. A good night's sleep without any väijy or kipinä made me feel much, much better. And ready to kick ass at the whole testing-of-platoon we had.

Yes, well. Of all the platoons in the brigade, the Light Mortars came out second-best. After our dear cooks, ambulance-drivers and general support staff. The non-fighting guys. Bastids (then again, they usually win for some reason. Maybe other brigades just have really crappy support by comparison). Overall, though, the Coastal Jaegers came out with an average of 4+ (1-5 scale, university style!), so...yay. We're elites.

>_< Now. I should sign up for courses. Courses whose sign-up-date I've probably missed by a month or two already. God-dammit! If any of you people in touch with university-world have any bright ideas, do convey them. I'm really rather stumped on how I should get back rolling in the middle of term, without even having gone and närvaroanmält mig or anything. Crap!

Civilian life, here I come.
