I didn't think it would fair for me to not write G3's story when G1 and G2 had theirs. G3 is Gwen, and she was our unicorn child. Why? She is born to a family full of boys, and is an O+ in a family full of B+s.
I had bloody show for G3, which was reminiscent of G1's birth. I remember it was about 2 or 3pm in the noon, and I rushed to hospital with G1 and helper in tow in a grab ride. The driver was steady and didn't panick knowing I am about to deliver. As this was going to be my third birth, you would think I would be calm and collected, well, I was, sort of, but inside I was still all kinds of panicky.
I still opt for epidural, because franlkly the pain of contractions is a memory that stayed with you for life. I had the same gynae, Dr Tham, at the same hospital G1 and G2 were delivered. Labour was less dramatic than G2 and after 5 hours, G3 made her appearance.
"She even cries Iike a girl," I said. My gynae brushed me off, saying he can't tell the difference but that was probably because he was numb from delivering so many babies.
The confinement after that was pretty smooth, considering my mum was in charge this time round. Having a girl meant I went ballistic buying baby girl stuff haha. But after having kids, you would think having another baby would be no different. However having a baby of a different gender is another learning curve. When I can, I will backlog on the events that happened in between.
It has been too long.
