Gremlin and vet techs

This last week was a trip to the veterinarian with Gremlin for his yearly check up and shots. This time though was not with his usual vet in Albertville, but I started going to Animal Wellness Center mostly because they are super close to my home, and all of my cats hate traveling in the car as they get extremely stressed out and usually pee or poop out of anxiety. As per usual, same stuff, same annoyances. I'm wondering if Vet Techs just get sick of hearing the same crap over and over again so when they get a competent owner they don't know what to do about it. Why yes Miss Vet Tech I have ALL of my cats records, receipts, and every piece of paper I've gotten in relation to Gremlin including his original adoption paperwork. Why yes I do have a binder for each of my animals full of information and records on each one of them. How convenient right? The vet says my cat is slightly pudgy, well yes he is and has always been just a little pudgy but not overweight...trust me I check his weight, he has stayed very consistent. But then it came down to me discussing my issues with Gremlin and I explained to her that I check his urine frequently. He gets put in a cat cage until he urinates so I make sure he's still peeing, and some time each month I check his urine by gently palpating his bladder to get a sample and I use test strips to check the PH and check for blood in the urine. So yeah, I thought something might be up as I've explained to her over the holidays and for a few months he's been off his dry prescription diet and his ph has elevated so I wanted a urinanalysis. MY vet said she thought it wasn't necessary but she would do it if that's what I wanted. I always have his urine checked at the vet, period. Gremlin has fountains in his room, three water dishes and he gets wet food every day plus his normal food ground up into wet food but I think he needs his rx diet forever. The vet wanted to take him off his prescription diet, so I relented and was just going to go with the wet food, but now I'm not sure. If she wants him on an all wet diet I'm willing to grind up a prescription diet for him because I already do that with his normal kibble and chicken broth. All the cats get chicken broth in their wet food anyway.

The urinanalysis came back, infection free but his urine was very concentrated. SO of course I'm concerned. The vet recommended that he be put on an all wet food diet period with a low phosphorous canned wet food. I ended up going with Werueva after reasearching and confirming with my vet. Well Gremlin is NOT happy with just getting wet food, he has always has LOTS of wet food every day, but the dry food is always available free fed. I have 8 cats, I can't just take away the dry food period with that many.

Trying to possibly work with this new vet to find out, some time in the future exactly why he has grand mals without medication.

Sometimes I feel like I go to the vet and I'm still treated like I don't know what I'm doing. Sure a vet knows best, but could people just for once not treat me like I'm insane? I get most people don't go as far as I do to monitor their cats or provide the care I try to but...seriously? We're out there! Good pet owners! They do exist!
