this is the part where Brian goes "told you so"

Dear Apple,

I am starting to get really sick and tired of your bullshit.

When I got my iMac (G4) in 2003 I loved it.  I thought it was the greatest computer in the universe, it was my first computer that was actually mine and no one else's, and I found it easier to use than any computer I used before. I even got an iPod, a little 15 gig 3rd generation (which was the last one without the clickwheel I think, but that's okay.  I thought the clickwheel was stupid.)  It was expensive, $500, and a gift too.  And it came with a dock, and a wall charger and really nice headphones and a whole bunch of crap that you do not get when you buy an iPod now.  It worked over firewire (and only over firewire, I think this was before they came out with USB iPods so people with PCs could get them too)  And maybe the battery never lasted as long as it should've, but I forgave it.

I used to store my music on my iPod, instead of my computer, to save space.  I could play my music from my iPod through my computer, and everything worked fine.  I could plug my iPod into other people's computers and it would work, I could (with a third party illegal program) rip other people's music off their iPods into my computer, which I can't seem to do anymore.

Your iTunes is pissing me off more and more too.  I used to be able to listen to anyone who had iTunes and turned their music sharing on and was on my network too, which was great when I was at college.  I probably started to listen to more different kinds of music that way than from anything else.   And if I downloaded another third party illegal program, I could download it too!   I don't really have qualms about that either, I know bands don't really make their money through CD sales, so who am I screwing over?  EMI?  Sony?  Oh, kiss my ass.

Now only "8 users per day" can connect to your shared music, which basically means no one can listen to anything, let alone download it.  When I downloaded the latest version of iTunes, my computer wouldn't boot.  (It did, on the second or third try, but still it pissed me off).  I don't seem to be able to drag and drop the songs I want to put on my iPod, I just have to "sync" it, which also takes forever since I now have a USB iPod, because they don't make firewire anymore (thanks!).  & my new ipod did not come with a wall charger, dock, or nice headphones.  And I have to keep all my music on my computer, since I can't play anything through my iPod anymore.

Importing CDs now takes 4 times longer, but I don't know if that is the fault of my computer or of iTunes.

Why can't you go back to being awesome?!

I am going to download Radiohead's new album.
[EDIT]: Oh crap, I can't even download it anymore!  I am not paying $80 for this shit.  I'm going to ask brian to get it off usenet for me.  God damnit.
