YUUUULETIDE - Recs edition!
I have a lot of Yuletide fics open in tabs still to be read. But I've been using the A03's bookmark function, and my list is now up to fourteen, so it's time to stop and make some RECS. All of the fics I've bookmarked are excellent and I thoroughly recommend you go read them - fandoms include Tortall, Shakespeare, Anthropomorphic Web 2.0 (actually one fic bookmarked there wasn't a yuletide fic at all), Mythbusters RPF, Dr Suess, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Historical RPF, and traditional fairy tales.

Nuns fret not at their convent's walls - in which Alanna goes to the Mother of Mountains convent, and chooses to serve as a guard at the temple of the Great Mother. Fascinating character study.
Sir Gawain and the Three Sisters - Gawain! With KINKY SEX. IN ALLITERATIVE VERSE. What more does a girl need?
Robots need love too - Mythbusters RPS, space-age primary school AU. This one MADE ME CRY. In which Adam and Jamie get to be friends, because Jamie does not mind Adam's behaviour abnormalities, and Adam does not find Jamie disconcerting at all.
Hearts Presages - Richard II/Bushy/Bagot/Green. No, I don't know why either. But it's GORGEOUS. An excellent look at the distance between king and man.
Queer as the fork when the knife ran away with the spoon - in which Beauty is a gay, black, teenage boy with a leather fetish, a knack for rose-gardening, and a coming out crisis; and the Beast was expecting a girl. THIS FIC IS THE MOST AWESOME THING EVER. Seriously. It's beautifully written, the world-building is intricate, and it doesn't feel like a Liberal Modern Retelling (TM) at all, except for the part where it is awesome.
