[As is usually the case, Haseo sounds in a foul mood. This... will probably never change. At least not for awhile. It's pretty obvious he's been in too sour a state to even bother thinking about what to update with. He starts off spitting out some of the water the communicator just attacked him with. Poor thing.Augh, what the hell ( Read more... )

Nothing wrong with making friends.

That aside, the Captain likes it best if everyone stays active on the network. His reasons are his own, but it isn't that hard to say a couple words now and then.

I have all the friends I need back home.

If we're made to participate, we kind of deserve to know, don't we? I'd feel a hell of a lot better knowing what those reasons are. There are some messed up people out there.

Maybe he wants to keep us happy or something. People--humans, at least--are happier in general when they socialize with their peers.

You're not back home anymore, and no man is an island. It couldn't hurt to try making new friends here.

...Yeah, he wants to keep us captives happy. Makes tons of sense.

I think it does. The happier a prisoner is, the less likely they are to rebel. Make a person bend to your will while he's cold, hungry and tired, and he'll run away first chance; make him bend but keep him warm, fed and comfortable, and he might actually like you before the work is done. Make him like you, and he might want to stay.

Of course we aren't really working, so maybe it doesn't completely apply, but it's close enough.

I don't really get why we're forced to stay here, anyway. Seems like a waste of someone's time and money to keep us so taken care of when they could just save all that effort by letting us drown.

...I'm not saying I want to drown, but I've never been fond of forced vacations.

...That's the point.

If they wanted us dead, we'd be dead. That means they want us alive, and if we're supposed to stay alive properly we have to be happy, and if we're going to be happy we're expected to socialize.

Yes, that's my point. Why?

Maybe it would sound better if it was some crazy experiment and the Captain was some mad scientist or something, but no matter what explanation I can think of, it sounds like a bad movie plot.

I know not everything makes sense. But there's always a reason, whether it makes sense or not itself, isn't there?

Some people say we're refugees, because our worlds were all destroyed somehow. That makes almost everything else make sense except for the destruction itself.

Buuuuut I'm not Captain Redd so I don't know how much is true and how much isn't. I've only been here about two months.

...I can't buy that excuse. My home isn't gone, and Shino can still wake up someday.

I know the truth isn't always fair, but I'd rather just keep believing everything about this situation that I haven't seen proof of is a lie.
