It's pretty obvious he's been in too sour a state to even bother thinking about what to update with. He starts off spitting out some of the water the communicator just attacked him with. Nothing wrong with making friends.

That aside, the Captain likes it best if everyone stays active on the network. His reasons are his own, but it isn't that hard to say a couple words now and then.

I have all the friends I need back home.

If we're made to participate, we kind of deserve to know, don't we? I'd feel a hell of a lot better knowing what those reasons are. There are some messed up people out there.

Maybe he wants to keep us happy or something. People--humans, at least--are happier in general when they socialize with their peers.

You're not back home anymore, and no man is an island. It couldn't hurt to try making new friends here.
