=== Character Information ===
Name: Jack Carter
Gender: Male
Age: 42
Fandom: Eureka
Time period: 'Shortly after 4x02 A New World
Pokemon: Growlithe
Distinguishing Characteristics: The tuft of hair on his head is shorter, closer to his head to match his
hair style along with his sheriff's badge hanging off a chain. He also has grey eyes.
Explanation: Growlithe fits Jack for a number of reasons. The main one being that Growlithe are police dogs, and Jack, as sheriff of Eureka and a former US Marshal, is as much a policeman as anything else. Fiercly protective of friends and family, James and Growlithe are again similar in that regard, and a Growlithe's keen sense of smell to smell the emotions of others is similar to Jack's empathy, and in remembering a scent, it is similar to Jack's street smart ways.
History:
Jack's history. Eureka episode guide to help fill in the gaps. Personality: In a town of super geniuses Jack stands out by being the one thing they aren't, being a normal guy. He prefers to sit down with beer and a baseball game over building anything that looks complicated. Prefers an actual bat in his hand over virtual baseball and above all else? Is shocked at the wonders of science. Most things go over his head when it comes to in depth explanations and he much prefers "It's a UFO" as opposed to "Oh it's a twenty year old space probe with a sentient computer system." That is the sort of explanation that takes the form of "Seriously?" as a response. He is very much still a doubtful man even after all he has seen while in Eureka, which has been a lot. Because he is still an average man, and the advanced little town of Eureka is full of geniuses, including his daughter, the inventions always seem fictional to him, from sci-fi, until someone shows it to him.
Among the craziness of his job as sheriff of the town however, Jack takes his job seriously. He investigates any case that comes his way, even if it happens to delve into top secret government projects. Someone dies and it leads back to some top secret project at Global Dynamics? He asks for a way inside, usually through a friend, saying town safety is more important then staying secret. He is not always listened to however, and frequently finds himself complaining about it all, and even having been a US Marshal he still finds fault with governmental policies. The loudest of which was when his relationship with Allison was audited because of the top secret nature of the town. All relationships of top officials, Allison as a high ranking member of Global Dynamics and Jack as the sheriff, had to be audited by the government and approved. Having been married and since divorced, Jack found it a completely stupid idea, and was rather vocal about it in private, though he did respect what the man was there for enough to behave.
He has a good heart however, and looks out for anyone no matter the trouble they get into, in part out of the loyalty to his job and also because that is who he is. Even when his relationship was denied by the auditor with Allison, and the man came back to look at the decision again, Jack helped to keep the man safe when he managed to get a good chunk of Jack's memories concerning Allison in his head through an accident. He frequently puts himself in the line of danger, and even tries to avoid putting his rivals in danger, just out of the need to protect them. Crashing his jeep into a giant laser to throw it off course even slightly when he hadn't been in town that long, or rushing in to stop the engines of the long range ship to Titan with nothing but his gun, he does what he can to protect the town and those he cares for. Even to chase his daughter down across the country as a US Marshal to make sure she is safe, because he loves her. Even if he can also be over protective of the people he loves because of this, he does it because he cares. Especially for friends and family who he has willingly time and again stood up and put his life on the line for.
While simple compared to others in town, Jack truly is a happy man. While he finds a lot of the things shown to him in Eureka cool, by his own admission, he rarely understands how they work and tries to pass himself off as more knowledgeable then he actually is, for all of thirty seconds when he caves and admits he doesn't know. It does not stop him from trying however, and he does use the information given to him to come up with solutions that the geniuses do not, mostly acting on impulse or gut instinct. Left alone he can over come a problem on his own time, with a lot of trial and error usually, though as a detective and tracker his skills are top notch, a nod from his US Marshal days. A lot of the time however he reaches for a simple explanation over anything, "scout ship" becomes "UFO" and "lunar directed laser" becomes "deathray" to name two, and he is usually more willing to use his terms over the scientific ones unless repeatedly corrected.
He has a bit of a temper though, and it usually comes out when he is frustrated like everyone. It therefore is usually directed at whatever situation is causing the problem, so as to not harm those he cares for, though on occasion it is directed at them, most notably his daughter, Zoe who attracted a lot of trouble before he let her go to college. Also anyone who was competition for him for Allison received the brunt of his anger, seeing them as a rival for her affection and in that case he turned into a bit of a snipping, jealous man, trying to one up them. However he always insured they were safe, so even his jealousy and anger takes a back seat to a bad situation, or is unleashed on the situation at large and not at the person. For the greater good he has also been known to put it all aside and work with that person as well.

Get everyone out, and make sure I have a way to see and talk with them, before checking it out.

Third Person:
It had taken some time but Jack had gotten used to his new body, mostly. The fur was nice, he was warm after all, and the four legs made it easer to go running after things. Or rush to where he was needed, but getting used to it all was still a trick. He still tripped himself up when he ran too fast, and the smells were taking some getting used too, his nose was far more sensitive now. The jangling of the chain around his neck was also getting a little annoying but at least the bade on it made him recognizeable so he wasn't going to complain. The tail was, well odd, but again, worse things in the world, so he just rolled with it.
Which was why he was outside, walking around, attempting to keep a steady half-run going without tripping. It would be easier to get used to a new body doing things he liked right? So he ran around the little town, looking around him as he did. It was a nice town after all, not Eureka, but it could be worse. He could be somewhere cold, and wet, and alone or something. But he was alone, in a way, Allison and Zoe were back in Eureka as were the others, but there were others here after all, and they needed help. So he would do it, for them, otherwise what sort of man was he?
...The type who ran into trees. As those thoughts raced through his head he ran smack into one, forcing him to the ground from it. Blinking he looked up at it and sighed, a paw over his face. That had hurt, and the glare he gave the tree as he moved his paw showed it. But at least he hadn't lost that right? The ability to not pay attention as he ran that was.
But when he heard the yelling from however far away, his ears pricked up, and he quickly scrambled back onto his feet, shakily as he wasn't quite used to it, and ran off. No matter if he was some creature or human, he would still help, it was who he was after all.
