the_metroplex RPG is an original fiction game. It takes place in the present time in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area, aka The Metroplex to residents. The Metroplex has a wide variety of nationalities, incomes, professions, colleges, and cultural events. A character could be a native Texan or someone who just moved from Boston/Toronto/London/Tokyo and it’d fit. There are many universities/colleges in the area, dozens of hospitals, major law firms, big businesses all around, museums, recording studios, film companies, ranches, and oil companies all within the Metroplex area, so there’s a vast amount of inspiration out there.
This game focuses on characterization and interaction within a real life setting. It's real people living their lives day to day with all the ups and downs that happen to all of us. the_metroplex is a place to explore original characters within a real life context and to interact with other writers who wish to grow in the original fiction realm.
The game has been open since early January, and we've had new characters joining every little bit. There are a lot of opportunities for interaction and development, and the cast is warm and friendly. There's a minimum of posting once a month, but that's very lenient because the main point is to have fun with this, not stress about stuff!
