The most dramatic change in in seasons to me isnt trees growing new leaves, but its the depth to the air. The air seems to be filled with this atmospheric haze. Tonight was one of the first nights I noticed it as I was coming home from Columbia University. It was a weird day of coincidences. One of the guys I was working with I found out grew up in the same part of Manhattan I did, the other went to UC Irvine, and graduated in 2009. So I ended up getting into a lot of discussions with them both about stuff. especially about the crush of exams while that summer desert heat was starting to creep up on the area. I kinda miss that, as I was reminded today as half the customers were stressing out about final exams they were studying for.
Also had a weird moment as I ran into one of my favorite high school teachers who happened to be at Columbia that day because he was giving a talk. I mean it was great to see him, but its also weird because its like "yeah graduated over 10 years after your great teaching, and now I am a barista!" But said something really cute/weird? to one of my co-workers when he picked up his drinks. He pointed out that he use to be my teacher and told him to "take care of Will." which just shows how empathetic he is. Of course I gave him his drinks for free! Little things I can do :p
Anyway, gtg to bed. Back to Columbia tomorrow!
