You are sneaky and I love you, lady! In fact, let me count the ways:

SAM. Sam Sam Sam. His struggle! It's not like the others don't, but Tigh immediately refuses the possibility of anything being different, Chief gets so resigned by this point in canon, and Tory just grows to embrace being a Cylon for better or for worse. No matter how much I may wish at times that there had been a different final five configuration, something they did very right is allow each of these four to have a different reaction. Ugh, and not being able to forget the things Starbuck said. So right. So achy!

Laura and Bill! Oh my god, Gwynne. I remember telling you once early on that Sam and Bill were the BSG characters I could most easily see you playing, and after playing off of Sam so much it always blows me away to read your Laura and Bill. I can see their gestures and hear the words in their voices, and it's so beautiful and feels so canon that it hurts. And can I tell you how much I love her thinking he's dangerously close to adorable in his bathrobe? And her saying "Spare me the sentimental claptrap, Admiral?" I know you're good and I'm still awed by what you do with them.

Tigh! Tigh's bitterness is loud and his loneliness is subtle, and I love love love how the change of perspective for his part kind of forces all of that out of him for the reader. And ugh, how he thinks of Ellen, with her long hair and pink dress and talented tongue. It gives me the same shock canon did in season three when it suddenly made me care about their relationship.

And oh, Starbuck. I love how indignant she is about Leoben leaving her -- of course she is! -- and I love that she doesn't know who to talk to. I honestly think that for all their problems Sam seems to be the only person she shares much with following New Caprica. Tigh's in the best position to commiserate, as she learns fast, but there's stuff she wouldn't tell him even before the Cylon revelation. I love her fierceness toward her body in the Viper, love the feeling of disconnect, love her thinking that maybe she's lucky to be able to watch her own cremation. And then in the end she silently goes to Sam side. They may not be able to say anything, but it's what it is and I could see it happening.

My heart. Thank you!

You're welcome! Thank you for the beautiful prompt. I am such a sucker for it, and for this show, and for the characters you picked and I'm thrilled to pieces that you like it, you really like it! I was a little hesitant because I didn't have my usual BSG wingman (you're my Helo, dammit!) to give it a beta and make sure things were accurate, but hey, if you find something now let me know and I'll fix it. ♥ In the meantime, I'll just sneak off and cause trouble elsewhere!
