Now that I can be coherent about things... I knew from the first few paragraphs that this was probably going to break my heart in all the best ways, and I was right.

Thank you. Thank you for making it the final six instead of the final five. Thank you for giving Kara to Sam time after time. Thank you for letting him be a normal person going about normal everyday business. Thank you for him being so dumbfounded by and attracted to her that he can't even come up with words, in either segment. She's a solar flare, a supernova -- of course he thinks of her like that. It's a slice of perfection.

Thank you for making me believe Galen and Tory as a viable couple. with him as hard-working as ever, as determined as ever, and oh, how much do I love the description of Tory as "a perfect storm of efficiency and competence." That's so beautiful, so perfect. And the bit about Sam not hitting it off better with Tory, what a gorgeous echo for later in canon. In the second segment, Galen's suspicion or... brutally accurate assessment of Tory is finessed so well. I love how you write Chief. I love the repeated request that he take time off, and for such different reasons.

Thank you for the Tighs! The scenes with Ellen and Saul are painstakingly painted and so beautiful and so canon, it's like I hear her laughter and her soft chiding. They have an almost indulgent relationship with each other, a love that only the two of them can understand, a love that's from the inside out, not for outsiders to "get," and there's an end-of-canon depth to both of them that's simply perfect. I love we've been married far too long for this conversation and I love that it ends on an upbeat note because after all they've been through, they deserve it.

I could probably quote the entire thing back to you and have so many more things to say about so many more pieces of it, but like I said in my first note, I feel like this is brand new canon written just for me and I can't stop saying thank you! It's so beautiful.

I read this and beamed so hard I can't even tell you. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to tackle the characters with the most canon history to harvest for patterns; my only regret is that by the time electricity, time, and inclination lined up I felt like I had to make a point of setting a tone that didn't lend itself to finding myself still writing five thousand words later.

That said, man, am I overjoyed with the echoes you like and the particular lines you love. I definitely enjoyed writing this, and I'm so, so glad you enjoyed reading it.
