I WANT ELECTRICITY BACK.
Our power went out at 3pm yesterday, and it's not expected to be back until at least tomorrow morning. I'm so pleased to be at work because I've got AC and internet and power and ice for my drinks.
Poor Brian's at home right now emptying the fridge (at least I hope he is) and trying to take care of the baby with no power. According to Duke's website, they started out with over 900,000 homes & businesses down, and they've restored power to about 250,000.
We lost a tree in the front yard, but fortunately it's on the strip of land between the sidewalk and the street, so the township has to take care of it for us. Eventually. I read by candlelight, Brian built a fire, and we sat around doing nothing. And we're looking at one more night of this. GREAT.
The average wind was 55mph, and there were recorded gusts up to 78mph. Trees are down EVERYWHERE, though oddly we didn't get a drop of rain.
Also, my coworker's sister found her neighbor dead in her house last night. A tree landed on the addition on the back of her house, and crushed her instantly. She was sitting at her computer, and then, BOOM, dead.
Suddenly my whining about power seems pretty selfish.
