Lives I've Pursued Inception: Arthur/Eames Rating: PG13 7,551 words Arthur could live like this, or this. Unbeta-ed which will become extremely obvious during the reading of, I'm betting.
No, don't apologize for babbling! It's not even babbling anyway--it's one of the greatest things ever to get to have a conversation about something that's been sitting on my hard drive/in my head for weeks on end. It's like...a GIFT TO ME that you would even want to talk about it/engage with it.
I think--it's so funny b/c I can't seem to find a proper writing rhythm for Arthur and Eames; I've mentioned this before, somewhere on the internets, that I keep writing versions of them--the story I've been working on for MONTHS is a series of past/alternate lives for them, where Arthur has to go through and play a different Arthur in five different dreams Eames has and wake Eames up eventually in all of them--and it's just...PAINFUL to write, b/c it requires SO MUCH WORK to get them in a place that will...WORK.
It is totally part of their charm that they're not MFEO, and that they have to want to work for it and do want that--I think...their world feels so inherently dangerous and UNSAFE and shifting that any move towards trust/love/security is a leap of faith--which I guess isn't that different from real life, SIGH. I like to think that...Arthur is being trained to make little jumps, then a little bit of a longer one, then the one to Eames, who has been edging his way toward Eames, too.
OKAY, SORRY, EXCUSE THE EXERCISE IN SELF-EXAMINATION/DEMONSTRATION OF MY OWN BABBLING PROWESS. Thank you so much again for reading, and for conversing!!!
