Now, I don't read TV series novels. You know, like those Buffy the Vampire Slayer books. I've been tempted but they've always been bad. I guess it's because unless the writers of the show are writing the books, it just doesn't work. The characterizations are always off, the books never flow because they're written by different people, everything always seems weird. And bad. Maybe it's because TV just doesn't translate into novel form. At least, not that easily.
Anyway - I guess they're coming out with a
Supernatural novel. You know, being a big fan of Supernatural, I'd be grabbing up anything Supernatural related that I could get at the bookstore - but christ, if people can get published writing bad fanfiction, then I should definitely be able to put a book out there. I've seen some pretty good Supernatural fic, and Buffy fic and Firefly fic. But they never seem to do the show justice. Hell, the comic book that came out recently didn't do the show justice. So how could they even think that writing a novel about our favorite Winchesters would be a good idea?
Okay, so maybe they just wanted to make money. But they would have made even more money if they'd gotten a decent author. Seriously.
Maybe I'm jealous. Maybe it bugs me because I hate to see anyone bastardize the two hottest characters ever on TV. ;D Especially when it's their personalities that really make them winners. Maybe it's the excessive laughter (wtf) or the name 'Manfred'. Maybe it's the pathetic attempt at suspense. Maybe it's the 'Love me!' which reminds me of those moments in Sailor Moon when she defeats the Monster of the Day and they shout something like 'Beautiful!' or 'Lovely!' Maybe it's that Dean sounds like a valley-girl. Maybe it's the fact that one rock-salt shotgun round seems to get rid of the ghost and makes the place 'safe' for a night. Maybe it's because whenever I read one of 'Manfred's' lines, my brain hurts. Maybe it's because Dean suggests double parking the Impala, and Sam is the voice of reason in that one. I don't think Dean would put a risk like that on his baby, seriously. Maybe it's because Sam is bad at parallel parking, which I just can't imagine. Maybe it's because it sucks.
I'm still in disbelief that they would publish that. Ugh.
Although, I have to respect the author for not going off on the people that critisize it. But still.
