Or at least thats what I have always been told. Yesterday after my mom and I got off work we decided to do a little bit of shopping. We went to a couple different places and then ended up at the eastland Target where after looking at several books and not knowing which to get I went ahead and told my mom I was going to buy here a couple for her birthday and told her she could pick them out. I figured it was better that she pick out what she want than me to get something she had already read. SO she then said something about going to Barnes and Noble b/c she wanted to look at the books they had so we left and went there.
Now while we are there...some woman comes up and taps my mom on the shoulder. At first I was like "wth" but then I slowly realized who it was. SHe is my mom's ex's mom...and was a big part of my life when I was younger. My mom got with her son when I was about 8ish and left him when I was about 18/19. Yeah he was hell to live with at times and did some crazy shit but his family has always been nothing but nice. Well we got to talking with her...and got a shock when my mom asked about her son...he passed away on april 25th from a heart attack. That was the last thing we expected to hear. SHe said they tried to figure out how to get in touch with us so we could attend the funeral if we wanted to but had no clue how to reach us. Even though there was bad blood so to speak between us and him...there were some good years and some good times and he was there for alot of my childhood...even if in later years I grew to strongly dislike him. I knew he had gotten remarried several years ago and expected her to say something like how he and his wife lived here or something...never expected her to say he was gone.
Then she started talking to us about his sons...I rememeber when they would come over every other weekend and we would go to the park, swimming, etc. Well now his youngest goes to school at RSU which happens to be the same school Cindy goes to.. What a small world!! Then we found out his oldest Jerry Lee is a Marine and is over in Iraq right now...and here I thought I did'nt actually know anyone over there. She said that they let him come home for 8 days for the funeral.. and he got in the night before. Thankfully he did make it back in time.
Then my mom did'nt even find the book she wanted there so we ended up going back to the target we work at. There she found the books she wanted which ironically are the ones i started to buy before we left work but decided to wait on. Now had I bought those we would never have gone to Barnes an noble so I guess it was meant for us to be there.
