I learned yesterday that Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers will be in Indianapolis in April, opening for Hanson. I know, I know, but apparently they're actually good since they've reached adulthood? I dunno, whatever. I figured okay, opening act will have a shorter show, but their last show (at Music Mill) was $12 so I'd pay that to see a shorter Kellogg show, no problem. Hell, even the show in Ann Arbor (at the Blind Pig) was $18 and worth it.
So I see the
Hanson concert advertised in the weekly Ticketmaster email, although no mention of SK6ers, so if I hadn't known already they'd be part of it I would've just scoffed that Hanson is actually touring still. Click on the link to see how much the tickets are.. And this is the presale price, yo... $28.50. What. The. Fuck. And that's before you get raped by Ticketmaster's upcharges. I'd love to see SK again, was even thinking of posting the concert to the Indy Singles meetup, but no way am I paying $30+ to see SK play 6 songs and then have to listen to Hanson.
Sixers, why are you doing this to your fans? Not all your fans are college-age Hanson fans! You're better than being just an opening act! Glassjaw Boxer was one of the top 5 albums last year, you're better than this!
And Sister Hazel still hasn't posted their spring tour schedule, beyond a handful of shows in the area of the Carolinas.
To sum up my concert-going in 2008:
Dave Pittenger in Chicago 2/02 - couldn't go because of stoopid work schedule
Who's That Pack, Chicago 2/16 - cancelled because of stoopid venue renovations
Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers 4/15 - yeah, probably not gonna happen
March is looking rather dismal. I'm still disappointed by the
Who's That Pack cancellation :( And I seriously doubt that
Todd Martin's going to be out this way on his own anytime soon.
