Verses...connected, through my thoughts

Jun 12, 2006 12:16

"And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth ?" Luke 18 (emphasis added)

Ties in nicely with Hebrews 10:36: For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Perseverence with patience, that we may be matured in obedience through faith...this is a theme I see running through Hebrews...for faith is not outcome-based, although we know the HOPE that will not fail, because of the New Covenant. So, we shall not shrink back...

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith....(1 Tim 4)

Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? (Heb 10)

But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. (Heb 6)

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3)

And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. (Isaiah 30)

For our Lord is a consuming fire...(Heb 10?).

So...
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; (Ro. 12). Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints (Eph 6) And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end (Heb 6).
