Who knew it gets light that early?

Long day. And it's only 4:45.

Was awoken at 5:40 this morning by woeful cries from Fred the cat (gratuitous fluffy kitty pic). Wasn't quite sure, in my groggy sleep-addled state, what was wrong, but soon discerned that he was having some distress of the, ah, gastro-intestinal variety. I flailed a bit, because really, Fred is the most low-maintenance cat ever, and is never sick. Then I called Nurse Dad, even though it was the ungodly hour of 5:55 AM, because a) it's an hour later for them and b) they are almost always up that early, even on weeks like this when they are on vacation. *boggles*

Anyway, Dad said to monitor the situation and stir a little cooking oil into his dry food, so I did that. Fred seemed to recover somewhat by about 6:15, so I brought him to bed to try and get a little more sleep, but really all I ended up doing was twitching every time he moved and fretting a lot. He was so sweet, though -- curled up at my feet and almost passed out. I have a feeling he'd been up most of the night, not feeling very comfortable.

So after that auspicious beginning, I went to work for a few hours, and then came home to check on a much-improved Fred at lunchtime. Went back to work, then, and made a vet appointment for Fred tomorrow just to be on the safe side, because he's due for a check-up anyhow.

AND THEN, such an exciting thing happened. Others who reserved a copy of Book Six at Borders might have experienced something similar: JIM DALE (the funny British Broadway actor who reads all of the HP audio books, which my dad and I have listened to about a thousand times) CALLED MY CELL PHONE. Well, a recording of him did, anyhow. He was all cheerful, and just wanted to remind me to pick up my copy of the book, which would be availble "as Friday turns to Saturday." Hee. So much hee.

And now I am eyeing a pile of clothes that should probably be put away, and also contemplating dinner, so. Cheerio.
