So just when I thought UPS couldn't make things worse for me

I hate it that they can still surprise me with horrible things. Alright, so on Monday, I noticed we were a bit light on help, but I expected it. The whole "year end" bullcrap was over with and I expected that they send away a number of temps, but even so they let go of a lot of them. They even let go of some of our hardest working temps and we were rather upset. In fact, it kind of made us appreciate the temps we did have more-so.

So I thought that storm was over, but today I show up and I was alone in the pick tunnel except for two other people who are normally working in bulk shipping. I didn't think much of it, thinking either people were running late, or some people called in, or maybe some combination of the two. So I asked one of the supervisors, Mike, where everybody was. His reply: "This is it". So it hadn't really sunk in yet, so I asked "Did they let go of ALL the temps?" Again, came the reply, "Yup." So I turned around and those two other people I had seen, plus myself, are the pick tunnel. So - three of us, when there's normally five or more. Five people that know what the hell they're doing, are traded for two other people that have no idea what's going on. I'm sure you can understand that I had a moment of panic.

When the first round of temps was laid off, I had heard a rumor in passing that said they wouldn't be using any temps. I dismissed it solely because it was a rumor and people have a tendency to go down the spiral whenever something bad happens. Well it turned out to be true unfortunately.

So yeah, the account has no more temps, save for one, who loads the truck trailers full of packages. What this translated to for me, was that I was completely fucked. There were other people on the line, but I might as well had been on the line by myself, because these people were next to no help. Eventually, they brought on more and more people, but again, nobody knew what they were doing, so I ended babysitting those next to me.

So I'm flat out exhausted. Though I was praised for my work saying that I had done "an exceptional job today". So at least they recognized the fact I was running my ass off.
