Well, if it matters to you that you're not married with kids I suppose it would. I'm 48 and still not grown up enough for marriage and kids so I suppose by your mum's standards I'm a sterling example of the most epic fail. *g*
It's not failure, it's just sadness that she doesn't have grandkids. My parents love kids- played foster parents to all the neighborhood and family latchkeys... So now they're all- where are the babies?
You said it made you feel inadequate, I'm sorry if I'm misreading what it is you're saying.
And - it's your decision, not your parents. If you want kids, there's still years and years ahead of you for that. If you don't - well, like I say, it's your life and your choice.

Most of the time I'm quite sure I wouldn't know what to do with a kid if I had one at this point in my life.
