Just came back from Japan early early this morning. Spent last week in Tokyo. It was a very last minute family (including R coz he's now 'family' in my parents' eyes.. *shrugs*) holiday. I don't think I would want to live in Tokyo coz I think I'll get migraines everyday. THE NOISE AND THE PEOPLE. Geez. Too much and too many in one place! Shopping there is fantastic tho'. We also happened to be there over the new year, and Japs are apparently big on new years and there were MASSIVE sales EVERYWHERE. People actually queue overnight in the bloody cold! It's like boxing day sales in the UK. Needless to say, I'm much poorer now. I heart Shibuya 109.

The girls in Japan put in so much effort into looking pretty when they go out. And I thought I was bad! I think they wear false eyelashes on a daily basis. They curl their hair every morning and put alot of thought into their outfit. And boy do they love their bling!! I felt right at home! HEEHEE.

The guys... well, there are the wannabe niggas, and the tanned hiphop types, then there are the gothish gay types. But the one thing they have in common is their HAIR. They all have longish hair and it's almost always messy looking. Fortunately it suits them quite well. R couldn't buy much in Tokyo coz he's not into that sort of fashion. But we did track down several Evisu shops where he managed to burn a small hole in his pocket.

Ayumi Hamasaki was in town for 2 concerts. My brother went to BOTH. I think my parents spent at least S$500 for him to attend both concerts and buy her merchandise. She's so damn popular there, a whole convoy of Team Ayu (her fans) vans and cars parked along the side of the road showing off huge car decals of her giant face and name plastered on every available surface of the vehicle, blasting her music and playing her vids on their in-car screens. Some looked like a mobile disco complete with 70s style blinking neon coloured square tiled platforms.

We made a short day trip to see Mount Fuji. It was a little cloudy, but we took our pictures. While we were in the mountains, we went for a little onsen.. hot spring baths. I've gotten used to ..umm.. being au natural around females in a toilet/shower having studied overseas and all, but it felt abit strange to be soaking in a steaming outdoor pool with my mum and a dozen other women. I saw too many fat and naked old women. Japs also don't seem to shave. Men and women pools are separated, but the same nakedness goes on behind the bamboo walls. I wonder if R, my dad and my bro will look at each other the same again! HAHAH!

By the way, a belated happy new year to everyone! Wishing you all a great year ahead!
