Oh, I also saw Letters from Iwo Jima last night. It was really good. But then, I would love a perspective piece with a group of doomed characters.
Kind of funny, though: my sister dropped in during it and said she was mad at the movie because it "stole" a Best Picture nomination from some other movie (which she now couldn't remember: cue laughter). Of course, she hadn't seen Iwo Jima, and neither had most people who were shocked it got the Oscar nom, and yet it was still surprising for some reason etc etc. I still have a strong distaste for the Oscars, but I'm glad they nominated it at least. I strongly disliked The Departed, so I can't forgive the Academy, but it did decent by Little Miss Sunshine and Letters from Iwo Jima.
