We were at Bloomingdale's yesterday, looking for a vest and tie for my new tux, and I had my first brush with the "Pinktastic Posse". I didn't look closely at the tote bag but it sure looked like one of the superheroes was wielding a vacuum cleaner. Also, Janet and I agreed that the name was maybe not the best; I felt I had to pronounce the vowels with extra care.
Anyway, despite my trepidation about typing it into Google, I searched the term this morning and found that, apparently, one of the superheroes is Cleanna, and she really does have a vacuum cleaner.
I also read a little bit about the posse, and I guess it makes sense for a breast cancer survivor to consider the ability to clean house a superpower. So if you are reading this and haven't heard of PP, it is a Breast Cancer Awareness campaign sponsored by Bloomingdale's (and it's safe to look it up on google, too). I would say "Happy Breast Cancer Awareness Month", but that somehow sounds wrong. Like, "I hope you enjoy your hospice visit" or "good luck at that bankruptcy proceeding".
By the way, The Bloomingdale's in the Willow Grove Park Mall had no formal vests. Macy's didn't either, and the guys in the men's suits department implied that I was nuts not to just keep renting tuxes, since they have fallen so out of favor. But I found a nice vest online, along with shiny hematite studs and cuff links that will keep me occupied for hours. I got the tux itself from MW Tux, and their vest selection was pretty poor. There was a picture of a woman in a vest on the window of Guess?, but 1) it was denim, and 2) either the bottom half would not fit me, or the top half wouldn't. Thank goodness for online stores.
