First off, Rin (KISAKI's new band) is... actually surprisingly good. Riku's voice is pretty damn good compared to the chariots garbage. I kind of forgot the only reason I was hesitant about this band was because: 1) Riku acts like a bigger diva than Aoi from The GazettE and 2) KISAKI's "retirement" antics. Looks like I let this take over my musical appreciation for the two. Though my case for Riku remains standing. Kind of.
And man oh man, I've been studying Japanese for under two years now, and am pretty good with standard, short, and polite forms but sometimes I can't tell what some people are saying if my life depended on it. People from Osaka are... hard to understand anyway for me, but alot of the people I talk to are from the Kanto area. Using all sorts of weird shit I'm not used to seeing. I'm guessing it's, like, ultra-slang or something. That or I'm just too retarded to know what they are saying. I fear the latter, but hope the former.
And now to combine the two topics, Bands from Ameba! Goddamn I love getting Petas, especially from random bands who I've never heard (and usually sound pretty kickass). Here's a list of some if anyone is looking for some new material!
Dark Schneider -Now I've written about these guys before, more or less (mostly about my tiny crush on their gorgeous drummer REGIA). The vocalist, LAER, is a pretty good singer. For alot of their early stuff they sounded like, well, crap. But their PV for Akatsuki showed a pretty decent improvement (and a "topless" REGIA *nosebleed*). They sound like any standard visual kei band. No real "sound" to categorize them with.
D'LORE - What happens when you mix some pretty decent metal with some classic visual kei? You get goddamn D'LORE. They started last year and haven't released much. Their drummer randomly gave me a peta one day and I've been a fan since then. You can listen to one of their songs on the homepage. I'm pretty finicky about anything that sounds remotely metal/hardcore, but these guys pull it off pretty well. Plus the vocals are pretty cool.
ReViel -When their guitarist gave me a random peta one day, I thought their vocalist looked oddly familiar (partly because the vocalist was a female). Then I noticed, the guitarist and vocalist were ex. ExSariel, a band that put out just one release but I ended up liking. After some lineup changes and name changes (ExSariel > SWEET EMPEROR > ReViel) they finally seem stable now. They still haven't released anything under the new names, though. The vocalist, Arisa, is also really good. Definitely give them a try with this live video of a song called
COLLAPSE BEAUTY from their SWEET EMPEROR era. Quality is meh but it's still an interesting song.
