Author note: hello again fellow Demena, Gomato, Lovez, etc. readers, I have returned with another story. This one will actually be Alex/Mitchie, not like my other ones that were Rosie/Carter. I will also try to write this one like a book, I’m going to try to be more detailed and try not to make too many grammar errors. I do not have a beta so all the mistakes that I do miss will be mine. I hope that you guys enjoy this, as much as I will enjoy writing it, also reviews are appreciated.
Life in Technicolor
Chapter one:
So long goodbye
The house was dark there was an eerie silence about it; nothing could be heard but the breathing of a young woman lying in bed. She was awake; her bloodshot eyes open, staring at the ceiling in what seemed to be a trance. She seemed so focused on the ceiling that she didn’t even seem to notice when her alarm clock rung. After a few seconds the young woman turned to the alarm clock, turning off the irritating sound that it was giving. But the clock was informing her that it was time to get up, that she needed to be ready for today.
The young woman sighed as she untangled herself from the white bed sheets. She sat on the edge of the bed for a few minutes before finally standing up and heading towards the bathroom. As she stepped inside she turned and looked at the mirror. Staring at herself she felt as if she was looking at a stranger. This strange woman had messy hair, bloodshot eyes, gray baggy sweats, and a t-shirt that was two sizes too big for her body. As she stepped closer to inspect herself she noticed that she was still wearing her mascara, which now covered her cheeks from being smeared.
She couldn’t believe that this person in the mirror was herself. She was Mitchie Torres, the straight A student who would never be caught dead looking like this. But then she remembered why she looked like this in the first place, and thinking about it brought fresh tears to her face. Mitchie looked away from the mirror and went towards the shower. She turned on the water as hot as it could go; she stripped of her clothes and stepped in the shower letting the hot water wash her fresh tears away.
After her shower Mitchie stepped out of her bathroom wrapped up in a white towel. She looked over at her alarm clock, it read 6:33. She sighed once more, on a normal day she would be up at 8o’clock sharp, but today was far from a normal day. Once she put on a bra and underwear Mitchie headed towards her closet where she pulled out a black knee-length dress. As she pulled the dress up one of the straps brushed against her left wrist. Mitchie winced as she felt the pain; she carefully maneuvered the dress so that it would not touch the newly made scars. After putting on the dress she put on a pair of small black heels, she then grabbed two bracelets from her bedside table and put them on over the scars.
Once finished Mitchie looked towards her window, the sun was just rising signaling that it was almost time. Mitchie looked at herself once more before heading out of her room. She walked down stairs to the kitchen to find a middle aged man drinking a cup of coffee. The man looked up when he heard mitchie enter the kitchen.
“morning, I made some coffee. I know you probably didn’t sleep much so I thought it might help.” He said quietly.
Mitchie nodded and quietly thanked him; she took a sip of the coffee. The warmth did nothing to soothe her nerves. She quietly continued to drink her coffee, letting an awkward silence fall over the two. Mitchie then looked towards the clock in the kitchen, she turned to the man and there seemed to be a sort of comprehension between the two. Mitchie then stood up and headed towards the door, the man right behind her.
//////-----//////
A black limousine pulled up by their driveway as they stood waiting. They both silently got in and were greeted by sad smiles and hugs. Mitchie never paid attention to who gave her the sad smiles or who gave her the bone crushing hugs. Soon the limo started moving again; Mitchie turned to look at the man next to her, the same man who was just in her house. She looked at his facial features, he had brown eyes, dark hair that was turning gray, a sharp pointed nose, and she could see wrinkles near his eyes and temples. She didn’t understand how this man was her father. The only similarity between them was their eyes.
As Mitchie examined her father more she could see how stress had taken a toll on his body. He no longer looked like the man she used to know as a child. But then again she hardly saw him, and when she did it usually meant something bad had occurred. The only reason he was even here today was because of ‘her’. Mitchie tried to hold back her tears as she thought about her, her mother.
It felt like it was only yesterday when she had gone home to find that her mom had gotten sick. She remembered how her mom had complained about the migraines she had been feeling. Mitchie had suggested that she see a doctor, but her mom was too stubborn and claimed that it was nothing too serious that she had to see a doctor. But soon the migraines became too much to handle for her mom, so together they went to visit their family doctor. There they had received some of the worst news ever, a brain tumor.
It turned out that the headaches her mom had been getting were caused by a brain tumor. Mitchie remembered how scared she and her mom were. Mitchie almost lost it when the doctors did more tests on her mom to find that it was too late. The brain tumor had been left untended for far too long. All they could do was try to treat it and hope that it would go away. Mitchie had learned that her mom had to stay in the hospital. Mitchie was horrified but tried to be strong for her mom, but she truly wanted to just roll up in a ball and cry.
As the moths passed by her mom got worse, she started forgetting everything and she lost feeling in her legs. Things got even worse when her mom lost her vision and she had difficulty with her speech. And finally the day came when her mom had a stroke, she had gotten them before but this one took her life. Mitchie remembered that it was the night she had gone home to get some sleep and a change of clothes. She hated herself for leaving her mom in her final moment.
Mitchie was pulled out of her thoughts when she felt a cold hand on her shoulder. She turned to see that they had arrived and her dad was waiting for her. Mitchie took his extended hand as she stepped out of the limo. She looked up at the local church; she remembered how her mom would always force her to attend on Sundays. As she walked towards the church with her father, and some family members she could care less about, she noticed how sunny it was; definitely the opposite of her mood.
Mitchie walked inside, she headed all the way to the front rows of the church. There she was right in front of the white and gold casket. Mitchie sucked in some air and tried to calm down, she knew that her mom wouldn’t want her to break down crying. She took a deep breath, wiped her eyes, and smiled a small smile. She might have looked crazy smiling but she was happy, she was happy that her mom didn’t suffer like other patients with the same disease.
Once the priest said some words and a couple of family members went up to talk, Mitchie stood up and headed towards the microphone. She was handed a guitar, a gift from her mom, and sat on a stool. She looked up at everyone that had attended the funeral crevice.
“I would like to sing a song that I recently wrote for my mom. It’s about how even though she’s gone it doesn’t mean that I won’t see her again. The song is called ‘so long goodbye’.”
“time passes by, direction unknown
You've left us now but we're not alone
Before you know it your cups over flown
You measured no one that I've ever known
And it's quite alright
And goodbye for now
Just look up to the stars
And believe who you are
Cause it's quite alright
And so long, goodbye
We always knew that it'd come to this
It's times like these I forget what I miss
Matters of heart are hard to address
Specially when yours is full of emptiness
And it's quite alright
And goodbye for now
Just look up to the stars
And believe who you are
Cause it's quite alright
And so long, goodbye
A time passes by, direction unknown
You've left us now but we're not alone
Before you know it your the cups over flown
You measured no one that I've ever known
And it's quite alright
And goodbye for now
Just look up to the stars
And believe who you are
Cause it's quite alright
And so long, goodbye.”
After Mitchie stopped playing she couldn’t help but let some tears flow out. As she stepped down from the stage she was greeted by hugs. But Mitchie didn’t want their pity so she pushed them away. Mitchie walked over to the casket that her mom was resting in, she touched her mother’s hand “don’t worry mom I’ll see you again soon” Mitchie whispered. She leaned down and gave her mom a kiss on the cheek; afterwards she walked out of the church.
/////----/////
A week had passed since her mom’s funeral; Mitchie was currently packing all her belongings. After the funeral service was over Mitchie received a tape from her moms doctor, he told her that her mom had made it just in case. Mitchie and her dad sat down together that day and watched the tape. It turned out that her mom had left everything to mitchie on one condition: she live with her father till she finished college. Mitchie couldn’t believe what her mom wanted her to do, but she sucked it up and decided that she would at least try to follow her mother’s last wish. So now Mitchie was packing all her things, today her father would pick her up and she would head to her new home in Laguna Beach California.
Mitchie finally loaded the last of her belongings into her rented U-Haul truck. After making sure that she had everything she looked at her apartment for the last time before climbing into the driver’s side of the truck. Mitchie took a deep breath and turned on the motor, she slowly pulled out of the parking lot. As Mitchie drove through the crowded streets she turned down the radio so that she could hear the GPS as it instructed her where to go.
Mitchie’s dad was supposed to come and get her, but he called and said he had an important meeting to go to. Mitchie wasn’t surprised and told him that she could find her way on her own. Mitchie hardly believed that he had business to take care of; she thought that he was probably at his office fucking some slut that worked there. That was one reason why Mitchie hated that man she had to call a father. He cheated on her mom and then left them to fend for themselves; it wasn’t until Mitchie’s mom, Connie, threatened to make him pay child support, that he actually started helping them.
Mitchie tried not to think about everything he had done; after all she would be living with him for another two years, since she was only a sophomore in college. Two years with him would be hell to Mitchie. After all the man hardly even knows her, did he know her favorite food? Or her favorite color? Or even the fact that she was openly gay? As Mitchie thought more about it she became angrier, but she would just have to take it. The least she could do for her mom was live with him. And besides she knew that he was hardly ever home, so maybe it wouldn’t be that torturous.
Mitchie finally arrived after driving for two and a half hours. As she drove around looking for the apartment she noticed that most of the people there looked like typical beach goers and tourists. Mitchie pulled up to her father’s apartment and saw that it was really close to the beach. She assumed that it would only about a 5 minute distance. She stepped out of her truck and went to the apartment door; she looked for the potted plant her dad had told her about. Once she spotted the plant she lifted it up and found the spare key to the apartment.
When Mitchie stepped inside she saw how plain it was. There were no photos on the wall, the walls were painted white, and all the furniture was made of dark wood. She went down the hall way and looked for the room that her father had gave her. The room was the very last door on the right. Mitchie stepped inside to see what her room would be like. The room, like the rest of the house, was painted white. There was a closet with mirrors for doors and a king sized bed in the middle of the room. Mitchie stepped out of her new room and headed for the kitchen. When she spotted the fridge she went over and opened it. There wasn’t much in it, just a lot of Vitamin waters, old takeout food, rotting fruits and vegetables, and regular water.
Mitchie sighed and decided she would go out and get something to eat. She looked over at the clock from the microwave, it was almost six PM. Mitchie stepped out of the apartment, making sure to lock it, and walked to the nearby restaurant she had seen when she drove by. She decided that tomorrow she would unpack her things and decorate her room.
After eating dinner at an Italian restaurant, which consisted of spaghetti and a salad, Mitchie decided to go to the beach. She knew that her dad wouldn’t be home till late and she didn’t want to be in his apartment all alone. Once she reached the beach she took off her shoes and walked towards the water. She walked on the water as she enjoyed the breeze from the ocean. After a while she went to sit on the sand and just watched the people enjoy themselves. She wished her mom was there with her, her mom would have loved to just sit and relax at the beach.
Mitchie sighed and looked at the people around her a man running, kids playing in the water, and a man fishing on some rocks. That’s when Mitchie saw her, a girl about her age sitting on a surfboard. Mitchie watched as a big wave was forming and how the girl swiftly stood up on the surfboard. Mitchie watched amazed at how well balanced the girl was, that is until the wave knocked the girl off. Mitchie watched worriedly, she looked around hoping that someone would help the girl but no one seemed to notice. It was when Mitchie turned around that she saw the girl come up from the salty water. Mitchie sighed in relief as she saw the girl get back on her surfboard and paddle back to shore. As Mitchie watched the girl when she heard someone called out to the girl.
“Alex!”

Authors note 2: okay so I hope I did okay so far. I would really appreciate reviews telling me how I did. Also the song Mitchie sang was “So Long Goodbye” by Sum41. The idea came from a dream I had but it wasn’t Demi and Selena in it. It was me and someone else.
Okay so I’ll be working on a new chapter soon based on whether people like this or not.
Until next time
