Meme - Pairing Portfolio!
Hiii guys! I'm sure you must be used to my now and then disappearances already, but I've been busy - with a lot actually. Back when I waws a hapless new user on LJ, and didn't know how anything worked - I came across a random journal where I saw this particular meme. It looked fun and everything - so I just decided to copy-paste it and save it. And since I realize it's been a while since I've posted, I decided to post it. A big thank you goes to whoever thought up this fun meme - if you're reading this, lemme know so that I can credit you!!
Here goes:
"One True Pairing" ship : It's a tie between Sasuke/Naruto and Sasuke/Sakura (and Naruto/Sakura, but ever since the latest manga chapters, and Sakura's 'confession', I've lost all hope for that pairing. Darn you, Kishimoto!). But if I really had to choose, Sasuke/Sakura would be it - it's more difficult to write than SasuNaru (for me, at least) and that's why I like it, as strange as it may sound.
"One True Threesome" ship : This... is SasuNaruSaku (Naruto) without fail! Usually, I'm not into threesomes all that much because very few get the interactive balance between individual characters just right, but... SasuNaruSaku - sexy, full of emotional conflict and oftentimes fun, and very *gulp* satisfying to read. And besides, it doesn't feel right when one person is left out, you know? - they need each other so much!
"Canon" ship : Miroku/Sango (Inuyasha). That pairing has canon stamped over it! I wasn't very particular about this pairing at first, but that episode in the Final Act where Sango groped Miroku, instead of the other way around just did it for me! The combination of a perverted monk and a fiery demonslayer is just too irresistible.
"Not quite canon but should be" ship : KikyoxInuyasha (Inuyasha, obviously). I really didn't like this pairing at all, but the history between them grew on me - and just watched the recap of the previous episode today. It's the episode where Kikyo dies - and the scene was just so beautiful - the art, the kiss, the tragic air. Oh yes, I just became a big fan of InuyashaxKikyou just... four hours ago. Uh...
"If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" ship : Sai/Sakura. (Naruto) I'll explain why - I have nothing against the characters but I do have a personal vendetta against the mangaka - Kishi used Sai like a tool, and do I have to explain Sakura, who's the victom of a sexist writer? Ever since that "you're a horrible person" speech, Sai/Sakura has been dead to me - I liked the pairing well enough before that, but... now I really don't see anything between them at all. BUT. If Kishi finally goes bonkers, and decides to make Sai/Saku canon just because it's convenient, then I'll seriously 'stab my eyes out with a spork'. It'll be a disrespect to Sakura's feelings - girl's been rejected by both of her teammates, and she shouldn't have to settle for THIRD best. So far, Sakura's character has been about Naruto and Sasuke - boys, if you want me to be blunt - now I just want her character to be about herself for a change. I want her to grow as an actual PERSON, and not a lovesick GIRL. I still read a lot of SaiSaku from time to time - but that's just for entertainment (oh Sai, you adorable clueless fool), not because I actually want it to be canon at this point.
"You are one sick bastard" ship : ...I don't really know, since people have a right to their own pairings. And I'm not very judgemental when it comes to pairings, since I'm open to every pairing out there as long as it's portrayed in a believable manner.
But if I really had to choose, I'd probably say Gai/Lee or Gai/Neji or Gai/Tenten (Naruto) - Gai with his students basically, especially Lee. Oh, the horrors of the green spandex... *shudders*
"I'm one sick bastard" ship : Orochimaru/Sasuke (Naruto)... I don't know why, and I'm seriously beginning to doubt my sanity here, but... if anyone's ever read Ada Kensington's works (especially A Day in the Life), they'd understand. He really knows Orochimaru inside out - and he wrote this one oneshot about Orochimaru's life, from when he was little to Sasuke's defection. It was amazing!
"I dabble a little" ship : Neji/Tenten. I usually do this when I don't find any good Neji/Hinata around the site despite my valiant efforts.
"It's like a car crash" ship : ...I'm not really sure how to interpret that, but I'll take it as something along the lines of 'violent, angry, possibly unhealthy for both parties involved, explosive, two worlds collide', sort of relationship. This... would definitely have to be Sasuke/Naruto (from, well, Naruto). With all the fighting, name-calling, unhealthy amounts of lovable angst and how those two just seem to go with each other and the hot, steamy make-outs XD - this pairing is easily one of my most favourite. To read, as well as to write. It's the one pairing I can write very easily. I don't have to think, or pre-plan anything as with NaruSaku or SasuSaku. Those two boys together just make for one hell of an unconventional yaoi pairing. In fact, it's the only rivalxrival pairing I support - I just don't see it between other rxr pairings.
"Tickles my fancy but not sold quite yet" ship : Kanda/Lenalee (D.Gray-man). I've been obsessively reading DGM for a while now, and chapter 138 and the fact that I just don't see it between Allen and Lenalee (or Allen and Kanda for that matter), really piqued my interest in KanLena. Plus, they've known each other before the official start of the series and Kanda seems to have a comparatively higher tolerance for Lenalee, which is quite possibly relationship material - problem is, I just haven't read any good fics about them yet. Can anyone help me with that, please?
"Makes no canon sense but why the hell not" ship : Sasuke/Hinata (Naruto). Canon-wise, it's a very bleak possibility. Actually there isn't even any possibility that these two will actually ever occur unless Kishimoto does another huge time-skip, and has the newly reninstated Sasuke marry Hinata for political reasons. That's not a possibility either, come to think of it... but the fandom possibilities are there - and since I can usually see chemistry between two quiet people, I'm very crazy about this pairing. Actually, Itachi/Konan can fall into this category as well...
"Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" ship : D.Gray-Man: Allen/Lenalee (it's cliche-main-guy-gets-the-main-girl and convenient for the animators, I suppose), Allen/Kanda (it's so popular, but all the yaoi-worshipping in the world can't change my mind [I think... you're free to try. Fic recs, anyone?]. It seems like a, idk, pretty boyxpretty boy/rivalxrival pairing that's sort of forced. I don't see it, I really don't). Naruto: Shikamaru/Ino (while it's very popular, and I can sort of understand why, when I read the manga, I just don't feel it). Itachi/Sakura (I can understand the allure, I just don't feel it - it seems like another excuse to pair Sakura up with a hot, emotionally scarred guy). Neji/Tenten sometimes, but most of the time, with how all Tenten's character is convulted and marred beyond recognition - ie, she becomes nothing more than a Neji-obsessed fangirl. Tenten isn't and will never be a fangirl dammit! - I just don't feel it. My faith in that pairing is beginning to dwindle because of such vile fandom assumptions - is it absolutely necessary that Tenten has to like Neji obsessively? Inuyasha: Inuyasha/Kagome. It's one of those 'Does he/she like me?" pairings that the animators try very hard to force. Plus they're both of high-school age (Inuyasha's human form at least), and I don't really believe in highschool romance at all.
"When all is said and done" ship : Sasuke/Sakura (my obsession forever), Sasuke/Naruto (my yaoi obsession forever) and finally, Team 7 OT3. ♥
"Guilty pleasure" ship : Shikamaru/Sakura, Neji/Sakura, Hidan/Sakura, Kisame/Sakura, Deidara/Sakura, Sakura/anyone that does not result in full bown out drama but just good verbal fun! I usually don't like it when Sakura's paired with every single guy out there, but if pairing her with a random guy results in cracktastic!violence (Kisame, Deidara), witty arguments (Shika, Neji) and a whole lotta cursing (oh, Hidan :D), then I'm up for it. So yes, Sakura/anyone is my guitly pleasure. There, I said it. XD
"I can't believe I read it and liked it" ship : Naruto/Ino... dear lord, I never, in a million years, thought I'd like such a... loud pairing. I'm a quiet person and I crave peace dammit, not splitting headaches! ...Or at least, that's what I thought before I worked up the nerve to actually read one Naruto/Ino. And I can't believe I like blonde, obnoxious fun so, so much. Putting those two together is seriously warped, crazy, whatever you want to call it, but it's FUN.
"Favorite 'Older/Younger'" ship : Kakashi/Sakura (I think this pairing is self-explanatory with the ridiculously vast amounts of fics out there - can be fun, angsty, total crack and there's always that teacher/student barrier as well. What's not to like?). If we're talking about a minute age difference, then I'd have to say Shikamaru/Temari (those two are completely different people, yet not polar opposites. But all those panels in the manga with the two of them alone show that they have potential. And most of all, chemistry.) And perhaps Hitsugaya/Matsumoto (Bleach) - writing humour for those two is surprisingly easy.
"My first I could never abandon you" ship : Sasuke/Sakura. It was the first Naruto pairing I ever came across. I wasn't too keen on this pairing initially - it seemed too typical, and all the fics were just the same. But then I started coming across amazing fics, usually rare too. Good SasuNaru or NaruSaku fics aren't that rare at all. But good SasuSaku is. And that rarity drew me to this ship, and I started scavenging around for every good SasuSaku out there. Plus, there was this ambiguity between Sasuke and Sakura, something never named, and some SasuSaku writers are just too damn talented and depict that so, so well. They've converted me for life. And speaking of being converted for life, another pairing comes to mind - Neji/Hinata. Again, talented writers really know how to write this pairing in a way that appeals. Sasusaku and NejiHina will always hold and unique allure for me, I guess. I wish I could say the same for SasuNaru, but the rivalxriival themes are too overused.
Favorite "Never-met" ship : Kimimaro/Tenten surprisingly. I read a few oneshots about this pairing - some canon-consistent and some not - and it was so well done! Also, Naruto/Karin - oh, I can just picture drunken brawls, incohorent language, groping and general comedic idiocy. And Karin, with her sexy hotpants, giving Naruto some much-needed fashion tips.
Favorite "Pervy" ship : Kakashi/Anko surprisingly. Kakashi is perverted, no doubt, and I can't help but think Anko, being as crazy as she is, would want be innovative and... explore (coughsnakebondage!cough). SasuSakuNaruSai (I can't get Konohamaru's sex-no-jutsu double knockout women/men and Naruto, Sakura and Sai's respective reactions to it out of my mind. Oh, if only Sasuke had been there! I'm sure after attempting to kill the brat, Sasuke would have been rather... curious *snicker* about... that. XD). Oh, and possibly Naruto/Ino. Blonde, obnoxious and totally shameless - the possibilities.... XD
Guys, you must do this! If for nothing else, then for my sake at least - I'm really curious about your taste in pairings. And especially about the likings of certain sexy people who intentionally keep their opinions about pairings very vague. I mean, c'mon everyone has to have a 'guilty pleasure', 'If this happens, I'll stab my eyes out with a spork' and 'I'm one sick bastard' pairing, right? Tell me if you're doing this, okay?
