I'm really looking forward to seeing Sasuke's Eternal M.Sharingan. There are only so many variations of eyeballs you can come up with, but Kishi seems to be doing just fine. >.>;;
Because Shikamaru's a MAN, - Of course, of course! *nodnod* Goddamit. Temari was right there. It isn't even because she's a woman - it's just what leapt out at me. Actually, Temari is the only female in the entire show that I think of as a "person" instead of a "woman". It just feels strange that a CHUUNIN is a GENERAL - what Shikamaru had done to deserve such an honour, I have no idea. This is a 16-year old boy's first war and he's a GENERAL
In Shikamaru's defence, someone might say he killed an immortal (or at least, left him for dead) but he had field advantage and an extreme amount of prep. We know Shikamaru can rise to the occassion, especially when it concerns someone he cares about, but his subordiantes don't know that. /sigh I wonder if they'll be able to place full confidence in a 16-year old Chuunin no matter how intelligent he is. Like, you know, they can place confidence in a calm and symbolic figure like Gaara.
I would've liked to see:
A. Shikamaru controlling the battle from a far-off place, as if he was palying shoji with the army soldiers as his pieces
B. Temari in a position of command, because dammit, her brothers are already Comamnders Gens/Generals, right? And it wouldve rocked to see them being awesome together.
I get that Gaara and Temari assigned the positions and chose Shikamaru, because they needed a reliable proxy for Gaara. But then wouldn't it have made mroe sense to choose Temari as that proxy? They're siblings, they've worked together, they know each other better.
Ugh.

Basically, all it comes down to is favortism (because, witht he exception of Sasuke, Kishimoto's fav. character is Shikamaru) and a cas eof plot-no-jutsu.

You know, I'd completely glossed over it the first time around because apparently I don't pay attention when I read, but it doesn't seem right at all for a chuunin to be in such an important position. All right, so admittedly Shikamaru's already done things way above chuunin level, like the whole Hidan thing. But still. It does seem a little... off. I would have preferred it if Temari had been general and Shikamaru had been her main adviser, or something.
