You have me wibbling in all kinds of Team Ten love from this comment. lol.
I actually, really, truly did think Kurenai'd had the kid, but (being the geek that I am) checked on Naruto-pedia and it sounds like she hasn't. Randomly, I also learned her favorite phrase is "beauty fades quickly?" Aaaaand.... now she sounds more interesting to me than I'd previously thought.
I guess I'd thought Sakura was learning medical things since she's training with Tsunade, but then Tsunade is also a master of being Really Strong, so maybe that's what Sakura learned?
It IS too bad that no woman is a leader of a fighting division. However, I'm not surprised by Shikamaru. Its part of his story to get responsiblity thrust on him, and his various reactions to that (grumbling but accepting). If Naruto is the Main Character, and Sasuke is a Tragic Hero, I think Shikamaru has...become (who knows if this was always intended from the start) someone else who Kishi treats as being on a hero's journey as well. I'd label him an Everyman or even an Everyman Hero, despite his unusual intelligence. Kishi gives him more page time because he's become interested in his story too....
Chouji being in a long range ighting division makes ZERO sense. And YES I totally want all the Ino-Shika-Chou together. I didn't like Termari being there instead. And not mostly not because of the Termari/Shika vs. ShikaIno, but because Ino-Shika-Chou's story/theme of friendship is their story, not Chouji, Shikamaru's and any random blonde chick's. There's a difference between the two and I want the Team Ten love. And also, a face-off between Zombie! Asuma and Team Ten.
Now you have me TL;DRing about Team Ten-- D:indira14November 11 2010, 01:26:43 UTC
So she hasn't had the baby? I... really don't know whether I should be glad about that or not. >.>
beauty fades quickly - *___* Wow~ That really is kind of deep - or at least, unusual. You have to wonder what's going on inside a person's head for that to be her favorite phrase. For some reason, it feels very ~right~ The fact that she's an illusionist/genjutsu master may have something to do with that. *__*
Tsunade is also a master of being Really Strong, so maybe that's what Sakura learned - Lol, the Rescure-Gaara arc definitely proves that. Unfortunately, the Really Strong part doesn't apply to the emotional aspect of her personality. :p According to imdb she also has a great deal of raw physical strength even without her chakra - during the battle against Sasori she pulled on Sasori's wire/cord to veer it away from Chiyo with sheer will >.>;;
Its part of his story to get responsiblity thrust on him - That's true! Poor guy always get so much shoved on his shoulders but he stills grudgingly accepts it. I wonder if his dream of having an ordinary wife, two kids and a house with a picket fence will ever come true? With the way the manga is going, I think that'll be a long time in coming. XD
I'd label him an Everyman or even an Everyman Hero, despite his unusual intelligence. - Whether he's an Everyman Hero or Traditional Hero, Shikamar strikes me as more heroic than Naruto will ever be actually. It's hard to, idk, identify with Naruto (lol. I'll laugh the day I meet someone so wide-hearted and all around ~good~ in RL). Shikamaru on the other hand just wants a normal life and for everything to stop being so troublesome and like most of us, he doesn't get what he wants and yet still reacts in a believable way when he gets thrust into situations he doesn't want to. The prime example would be the Hidan-Kakuzu Arc. I didn't take him for a vengeful guy before that but afterwards I like how he reacted - it's only logical (and yet driven by emotion). But what I like most is that he has no "set" personality like Naruto/Sasuke/many others. Sure, there are ingrained character traits like "laziness" or "complaining" or "supposed indifference" but there' more to him than that./TL;DR
...I hope that made sense. I got a bt carried away. >.>
And YES I totally want all the Ino-Shika-Chou together. - Me too! ;__: Actually, I wanted all the team members fighting together, with the exception of team eight, because I like Neji and Hinata where they are just fine. ♥__♥ But I don't know how they could've worked together - and by that, I don't mean that I'm doubting their excellent teamwork; I'm just wondering how they could've been in the same division given how their skills differ. :(
because Ino-Shika-Chou's story/theme of friendship is their story, not Chouji, Shikamaru's and any random blonde chick's - This is agreed upon. Despite my views as a Temari/Shikamaru supporter, I'll gladly give precedence to friendship/character development over romance. For example, even if I supported, say, Tenten/Neji (which I really don't get), I'd have wanted Lee there as well, because without him it'd feel a bit empty. Which is why I get a bit frustrated when people exacerbate rough patches in Sasuke and Sakura's relationship and undermine their 'moments' in part I. The Naruto/Sasuke relationship will probably always be the main focus, but proper weight should be given to all other relationships in the manga.
I think the Team Ten relationship isn't really as ~prominent~ in fandom despite their manga moments (like Ino-saving-Sakura in FoD, Asumana giving them all identical earrings, and asuma's death). Team 7 has great amount of fic and so so does Team 8 and Team Gai (I've read excellent stories about the latter). But why is Team Ten fic/art so rare? People often tend to portray Ino preoccupied with boys/Sakura, Chouji preoccupied with food and not at all important and Shikamaru with-- it's sad, but fandom doesn't really look past his outer traits or tends to just use him as someone who analyzes a situation from afar to give the reader a third party's insight./RAMBLING IS RAMBLING. EXCUSE ME. DX
Re: Now you have me TL;DRing about Team Ten-- D:hungrytiger11November 11 2010, 04:18:29 UTC
You can't hide what you mean behind strike-outs!!!! (I was SO Happy that Hinata and Neji were fighting together! It gives hope for the Hizashi/ Actually-still-alive-Hyuuga. Though, man. Where's Hiashi? Is he STILL away training Hanabi? how long has that been?)
I think you are dead on about the appeal of Shikamaru. To be truthful, I always thought that it was one character that Kishimoto hadn't really planned to be that major of a character but found the same appeal you mentioned and his part grew (um, incidently, this is also why, to me atleast it seemed likely InoShika seemed more...likely, what with them always being in panels together and him noticing her all the time. Then, I think Temari became a more interesting pairing to him as Shikamaru himself became a more interesting character to him. .... of course, I always read to much into things....)
I've never understood why Team Ten is the least popular team. (though team eight isn't super popular either, but one underrstand there with the bugs.)At a guess...I think its because a lot of people see Ino as being a bitch because she's a "rival" for Sakura (personally, I don't get it. I mean, Sakura was the one who "broke up" their friendship. And they were both, like, twelve. Everyone's a bit awful at twelve.) and, well, because Chouji is fat. This is awful, but I think it might be true. :( CHOUJI YOU ARE ADORABLE!!!!! I hate they get sterotyped at the food-obessed, boy-obessed and the lazy ass. :( Fandom in general has a bad hapbit of minimizing friendships; this is why I think in ALL of the teams, the balance of the relationships is often ignored or skewed. I mean, if it there all, most of the time the focus is turning the teams into a threesome. Which is fine in some cases (team seven, I'd really see that happening!) but its sort of sad you don't see more pure friendship stories....
PS Sakura must be trained at least somewhat as a medic because she uses poison on her harem to make them sleep, and saves the lives of Karin, Hinata and Gaara with...medic-stuff. (has no clue what "medic stuff" actually is the Naruto-verse...)
