So apparently god thinks that deriving pleasure from people's distress is highly amusing and therefore has decided that my beta's parents should get divorced. And somehow, I got caught in the crossfire and now, I'm being suffocated by all the drama that impregnates the air.
And yeah, yeah, I know that it seems otherwordly to you guys, something that seems oh-so-realistic in those sappy romance movies, but fact is, it's not a sappy romance that moves you to tears with all the depicted devotion, and loyalty and all that crap. It's actually real.
See, this morning I got out of bed, fully expecting this day to be a monotonous drill that I must get through - you know, one of those days where something remarkable or interesting is least likely to happen, and as such, you don't bother to remember it all that much. And if for some rare reason or other you do try to rememeber it, then the mental picture's bleached in a most depressing shade of grey, as if you're recalling a place where the sun doesn't shine. *sigh* That's my perception of it anyway, but I'm just a teenager and I guess this is just a "phase" that is the resultant entity of waking up every morning being wrapped up a warmy, comfy cocoon of... books. And the O'Levels are my alarm clock, by the way. How very fun.
Anyway, let's get back to the point. So I woke up this morning, geared myself up to face another frustratingly bland and tedious day of studying - sometimes I feel as if I wake up every morning living the same day over and over; it's as if the clock's running, slow and steady, minutes are ticking by, but the hands of time... it's as if they aren't moving at all. Time passes by yet nothing changes. Aw, shit, I'm thinking too much.
Anyway, I met up with my beta, AmberIce-zlkh, at our Chemistry tutor's. Oh, and before you ask, yes, my beta and I are actual friends/classmates who see each other every other day. At first gance, she was fine, perverted and smiling as usual. But I sensed something 'off' about her - on closer inspection, it seemed that she had lost a lot of weight in just the four days since I had last seen her and her smile seemed vaguely artificial. Strained, I would call it. It was somehow obvious that she was upset about something and this time, she wasn't just minimally upset like usual when somethingbad happened.
Being the kind of person who respects the privacy of others, I let it side, figuring that she'd tell me what was prompting her to smile so falsely when she was ready. Then I proceeded to cheer her up with my awesome sense of humour... and that went really well, considering that she abruptly averted her eyes from the whiteboard to me, gave me what could only be described as a look and very sweetly said, "Of course I'll go home and read that stupid NaruSasu while my parents get a fucking divorce, dost. I'm so friggin' excited!"
See? That went well! Given her volatile temper which rivals Tsunade's, she could have shouted it to the entire class in a raging outburst instead of just - very sweetly (bitterly) - muttering it to me. Now that's a relief.
Anyway, jokes aside, after that I just gave her a look that said , 'I'll talk to you later" while pointing at our sour-face (and evil) tutor who was giving us a very disapproving stare. We fell silent after that. And for once, we did our classwork quietly, attentively, instead of badgering each other as usual. None of us said a word until class ended.
See, I'm not exactly the most comforting person around, because I know that words of comfort are just lies that futilely get your hopes up - just when you think that everything's gonna be ponies and rainbows again, reality comes crashing down even harder.
And nobody wants pity unless they're a freakin' dramaqueen - which Zlkh is totally not. She wasn't going to get any pity from me anyway - I'm a bit heartless like that - but I guess she did get understanding from me, that being the reason she confided in me (in a very unconventional manner, I might add *rolls eyes*) and no one else.
When it was finally time for us to part ways at the gate, I asked her if she wanted me to call her later. She'd just become more depressed - a tad too much like me for my liking - if she kept it all in.
She looked at me for a while (which was awkward, since she was 5'8" and being just 5'2" I had to look way up at her - my neck muscles had started to cramp by then), gave me a tentative smile and said, "Thanks dost. That'd be nice."
So here I am now, typing this up an hour after I finished talking to her. I called her up at around 9:30 pm, and talked to her for three hours straight. And if my gut feeling is right, I think I managed to take her mind off, if only for a little while - I mean, we started off talking about parents, how life was just fucking pointless and yeah, maybe we should just leave it all behind and become wandering street peddlers, cuz seriously, even the crawling hunger of the stomach was more bearable than this mental torture. Pretty depressing, huh? But guess what? By the end of the conversation, we were discussing the latest releases (HP and the Half-Blood Prince), best friends and the no. of recent deaths caused by a certain species of spiders and scorpions (creepy, I know, but Discovery channel does that to you.)
AmberIce-zlkh told me that her dad gave up his job this week, but he's not sitting idle at home - he's always out to all these gatherings and social parties just to avoid her Mom. And at this point all this might be very typical to you - something that'd blow over in a few weeks - but thing is, divorce papers are already prepared. Only two signatures to go.
Before we hung up, we came to a very concrete conclusion: Marriage should be Illegal. End of story.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, I've done everything I can to cheer her up (for now) but I think a few good humour stories will do the job of distracting her better - she did vaguely mention that she wanted to read some blatant crack just so she could pretend that everything was simple and fun. And oh, even hardcore smut isn't taking her mind off of things, and now that's a surprise because she's a preposterous pervert. Aren't we all?
Normally I wouldn't be posting this here, but right now, I'm fucking desperate - I mean, I feel so damn helpless! So, I ask you guys: Can you please rec any good IC Naruto/Inuyasha humour stories? Here are her favourite pairings:
Naruto
NarutoHinata
SasukeNaruto
Team Seven OT3
SasukeSakura
KakashiSakura
ItachiSakura
NarutoIno (Zlkh's been wanting to try out this crazy blonde pairing for a while now)
OrochimaruSasuke
NejiHinata
NejITenten
InoChouji
ShikamaruTemari
SaiSakura
Inuyasha
SesshomaruKagome
InuyashaKagome
MirokuSango
SesshomaruKagura
SesshomaruRin
KikyouNaraku
*sighs* I feel really guilty for giving her a library of excellently-written but really depressing SasuSaku's and SasuNaru's and the only cracktastic piece I gave her was surprisingly an OroSasu one called 'A Day in the Life'.
If you can't rec any good humour fics, then please suggest something addicting - whether it be cliche romance or PWP - hopefully, it'll take her mind off. I know some of you might be thinking it's a bit silly to try and alleviate her mood with fanfiction but I know Zlkh and 'silly' is what she needs right now. And nothing can work as a better mind-numbing agent than fanfiction - it's a perfect distraction. It'd be great if you guys could offer some assistance.
