power
we've been without electricity since thursday night - three days of cold, dark, and dryness due to a windstorm.
washed my hair in the sink at work on friday morning, took showers at susan's friday and saturday nights, showered at my dad's work this morning.
thank goodness the power came back up this afternoon - i don't take to stinking well. :)
i spent this afternoon scraping fridge and freezer ingredients into the compost bucket... mmm, yummy.

worked for fifteen minutes on friday, then the director called and closed us down - we had heat, power, and plumbing, but no internet or network stuff.
so i went downtown (with the rest of the county, since downtown was practically the only place with power) and did my christmas shopping, ate two meals out, and had a generally fabulous time. hooray for inclement weather leave. ;)

my dad's brother died on friday (this after grandpa (his dad) died a month and a half ago and his sister died 5ish years ago), so my parents are taking a quick trip to colorado for the funeral.
i wasn't in any way close to the guy, so i don't feel affected, and though my dad wasn't that close to him either, i do feel bad for him. his original family is dying off in quick succession.

i am SO glad i'm done with schoolwork for the semester. i can only imagine the carnage if i'd been planning to write a paper this weekend...
