(i heard about this on
green960, but big thanks to
pigri for reminding me about it!)
this one hits close to home, being a californian. a few days before it was announced that sarah palin would be mccain's running mate, she wrote a letter to my state's governor governator schwarzenegger, asking him to veto a bill which would cut pollution at some of california's major ports (oakland included. so yeah, really close to home for me). basically, she asked that he (schwarzenegger) veto a fee on cargo containers because "both consumers and the economy in california and alaska would suffer as a result of the fee."
talk about using her new found popularity on an issue that really doesn't involve her. she's not a resident of california (thank goodness). she's not our governor (again, thank goodness, though arnold isn't that much better). she has no business sticking her nose in california's environmental law. unlike her views on environmentalism, many californians work hard to protect what we have. and california is polluted enough already! anyone who has been to los angeles, the central valley, or long beach can attest to that.
unbelievable! this woman is scary, dangerous, and has a history of abusing her power.
