Wowowowow...
I've been quite busy with nothing-ness recently... It's kind of odd, but reintegrating into dorm life (being around so many different people at the same time) isn't totally easy.
Blogger!
I mentioned this in my profile, but I figured I'd actually post it... I've started up a blog at blogger: "Windows to Linux to Mac to Toasters - A Saga" - it's where I'm going to be posting most of my IT stuff - I know how much my long posts about linux stuff and network management have made my posts difficult to read, and I've been wanting a more "professional" blog to accompany my journal - this should be a way to achieve that goal.
College Life!
I took some photos of the dorm room finally, I just have to post them... A virtual tour of my new domain ^_^
First week of classes - was interesting. I've got four writing assignments due within the upcoming weeks, one collage (the first ever collage that I've been assigned at college!), and a homework assignment from my Security class.
Speaking of my Security class (which I had Thursday) - that was interesting. I was walking into class, and I saw half of my classmates leaving the building... They were all saying "damn, that class was hard... Better be ready" and stuff like that. At first I thought they were talking about a class they all had together right before Security, but then I realized they were talking about Security class (in a sarcastic way). Tim had canceled class.
In my Active Directory class I had on Tuesday night, Tim said that he may be called away on short notice, and he would give us an assignment to do. That's exactly what he did too - review questions for chapters 1 and 2 of the MCSE Security book. But guess who was taking attendance - Lesli. Hehe, it's the first time that I've seen her alllll term. She asked me, "An MCP now?" (I get MCP attached to the end of my name once I pass the first MCSE exam).
Me: "Nope"
Lesli: "Going to be one soon"
Me: "Nope"
Lesli: "Planning on taking the exam soon"
Me: "Nope"
Lesli: "PLANNING on taking the exam"
Me: "Eventually..."
I also told her that "I've upgraded my operating system (finally - from 2000)." She was about to shake my hand, when she said - "What did you upgrade to?" Hehe, "SUSE Linux." ^_^
First Day of Work...
is coming up here in just a few hours. I'm going to be working with Sonya and my Boss - Kim. Sonya is going to be the "desk worker" - even though she holds a higher title of Lead Support Administrator... Since Stacy isn't working at LSS any more. :(
BTW: Saw Stacy yesterday - she colored her hair, and it's a beautiful shade of red. I totally loved it.
Anyway - I couldn't sleep again. I woke up at 4 AM or so (after around 5 hours of sleep) for a late-night "call of nature" only to find that my room is freakin' cooooooooooooolllllllllllddddddddd. The entire suite is cold... And the dorm itself... It's actually not to shabby... Most places are actually fairly warm, go figure.
And other stuff...
夢です! The Dream!
I had the oddest dream... I was at college, but my college was on the coastline. The waves were crashing just outside of the dorm. I'm not sure if it was a nice campus or not, because my dream took place when it was all grey and gloomy and stormy.
Anyway, so as I walk into the dorm, guess who I see? Pat! Patty, an old friend from high school (I want to make this clear - from high school - not my former suitemate from Baker 156) - he could always amaze me by his intelligence and athleticism. I wish I could have spent more time with him back then, but I didn't really get to know him until high school. ANYway - back to my dream... So, I notice Pat at the reception desk, getting ready to leave. I walk up to him and start talking.
Oddly, Pat didn't seem to care that I was talking to him. He obviously didn't come all the way to my campus to see me, but I couldn't figure out who he would want to see on campus that he would know. So I persisted - as he walked off campus and along the road (that ran along the dunes and ocean) I kept talked to him and the wind blew my hair and the weather seemed to get worse and worse.
I finally got Pat to open up to me a little... He admitted that he came to my campus because he was in the area and needed a fix.
"A fix?!"
"Yeah - I'm a pot head... Now leave me alone."
Patty's a pot head?!? NOOOOO. Not Patty! I stood in the gloomy weather as rain started to pour down and painfully splashed upon my face - yelling at him as he kept walking, but I couldn't follow him anymore for some reason.
--What an odd dream.
I also had a second dream that took place in Christmas - it seems the coldness of my dormroom was getting to me by this point.
I was in the living room of my house, when I saw this guy fall over with a huge hole in his thigh... He was bleeding and screaming... I quickly ran to the phone and dialed 9-1-1, and told them:
"There's a guy in my house, he got hurt on the coffee table... No, wait... It was the kitchen table... No, wait... he was putting the star on the tree and fell - putting a gash into his leg. I need an ambulance!"
The operator didn't believe me though, and hung up on me. And even though I kept calling, no one would answer at the 9-1-1 center.
That's when I turned around to see that it was my cat that was injured, but not nearly as badly. I leaned over to her and petted her and told her it would be okay.
She said, I know. -- Yes, my cat talked to me in my dream. She said that it hurt to drink her water and I should take her to the vet. So, I bundled her up and headed out into the cold to get my cat all fixed up... Damn that operator anyway.
