Eyes on the Ball...

I have this urge to fulfill another one of my "unwritten" summer goals today - ride the Kiwanis trail from beginning to end. It's a long trip to do, especially if I'm alone, but I've got an urge to do it. I'm not so sure it'd be a good idea with my aging Trek (still, with the broken kickstand) - not to mention that I'm getting really really tired, but I want to give it a shot.

I took care of the tires last night - missing the beginning of NCIS for it I might add - and now they are up to pressure, but with how fast they lost pressure - they lost around 20 lbs in two months, which is a lot of air pressure to lose in those two months - but maybe the conditions it was under had something to do with it (I'm not exactly sure how tires lose their pressure).

Oiee - Brings Back Memories...
I was watching Kaleido Star today - and the lead character, Sora was talking about how nervous she was to be going on stage. And suddenly, I felt like I was back in Orchestra behind the stage, getting things ready. Going on stage in such a large group was pretty easy, but there was always that thought in the back of my mind that something really bad would happen, and everyone would laugh or something.

There was one time when Ms. Wittenkeller was conducting us -- I believe that was freshman year of high school, so it would have been Concert Orchestra - and the entire class had screwed up the song, so she stopped us mid-way though the song and had us start over... If you ever hear an Orchestra coming to a sudden (and quite unexpected stop) like that - you would easily know there was a huge problem... It just sounds so horribly wrong. The following day, Ms. Wittenkeller walked into class with the head principle (Mr. Burg) and spent about 15 to 20 minutes tag-team yelling at us... basically, to "Put up - or drop out."

The most nervous I ever was in Orchestra was in my senior year, when I was in Symphony Orchestra, and the class was at "Orchestra Festival" (an annual competition - I can't remember what "one" we were at - Regional or State) but at that time, I was in charge of setting up the chairs and stands - which is evaluated. And I, like Sora - totally botched it up. The rule for the set-up guy is to go set-up each chair and stand once - and be done with it. I managed to get the spacing so wrong, that once I was done setting up, I noticed how bad it was and adjusted everything - unfortunately, that screwed up the arrangement of the stands, which I didn't notice until everyone was walking onto the stage and grabbing stands for chairs that were missing some and pushing stands out of the way that weren't supposed to be there. Oh, that so sucked.

Physical Oddity ----
A week or two ago, I felt a spasm in my ear. It sounded like a fluttering, and reminded me of an episode of "Medical Incredible" I saw a while back where a guy got a bug stuck in his ear - he said he could feel it trying to crawl around and the sound of it trying to flap it's wings was deafening. Oie, and then it happened to me again today different ear (and I'm pretty sure that there isn't any bugs in my ear... I hope).

T-Minus...
151 hours until my first class
76 hours (approximatly) until I drive off to Owosso - 78 (approx.) until I move into the dorms
17 hours until AUTUMN!!! My favorite season.

Fishy Fishy Fishy
The stooges are doing well once again today - I'm still worried about Pascal - there's still a chance that he's got fin-rot :( - but, I've got him on anti-fungus water... If he does have it, it should die off here soon. Those tablets (the same ones that Cobol had for his dropsy) make his bowl look like it has a spoonful of barbacide in it (the disinfectant -bluestuff- barbers put their combs in -- pic!) - quite freaky looking for a fish bowl.

Tea Time!
Okay - I'm feeling quite odd today - I've been starting to pack up some stuff to take back to college - I'm really not looking forward to going back to school already - but it can't be helped, so I'm getting things around, to make my life a little easier.

What might this have to do with tea? Well, I was going through my stuff, and munching on some Japanese candy - that I should have probably ate long ago -- when I realized that I had a craving for tea - and it's caffeine (I'll need that for my rider later today) - so I decided to try some Darjeeling today... And it just got done steeping... The last time I had this tea, I nearly coughed it up - it was just rough going down and tasted more like "pinecones" than "tea" (IMHO)... So, out of my 24 tea bags of Darjeeling I have, I have only made 1 cup of it until today. Time to try it out.....

Oh God - that's nasty.

+Half a tablespoon of sugar
Nasty.

+1/8 cup milk
Nasty.

+Two full tablespoons of sugar
Drinkable - but nasty after taste.

--Champaign of teas my arse. Earl Grey - now that's some good tea... Especially the Double Bergamot --- oohhhhh, double berg... so nice.

However, I have had some odd teas before - like when I bought Jasmine tea and Organic Green tea -- I love green tea, but both of these teas (Jas is very similar to Green) - and I can't stand either. Oh, so nasty.... but I can't help but wonder if they were just bad batches.

That would be:
Stash -
Jasmine
Earl Grey - Double Bergamot

Twinings of London -
Earl Grey
Darjeeling

Lipton -
Organic Green

Well, the sun is up - so I should get cycling... I'm not sure if I'm awake enough to make it very far, but I might as well try.

BTW: James (dragon_sneeze) got hit by a car yesterday while riding his bike - *SCREAMS!* So scarry. --He's okay... considering he was *HIT BY A CARRRR!!!*

college, cycling, tea, orchestra
