My dad was just watching the discovery channel... And I happened to hear Prodigy's "Breathe" playing in the background... It is quite freakish to hear that as the background music to a documentary.
Also, (I forgot to mention this in my previous journal) that I caught a bit of Spirited Away (my faaaavorite anime movie) Thursday night on TCM (Turner Classic Movies - I believe was the network)... The spiffy thing is that they were showing the Japanese version of the movie, with English subtitles! I was quite pleased with this fact, since I so very rarely see anime in the States that haven't been "americanized." Besides, I think the English version of Spirited Away portrays Haku (the guy Chihiro runs into and falls for) as an annoying little price, whereas the Japanese Haku character doesn't come across as so cold... Although, that could be just me incorrectly understanding the Japanese to English text thing, but I'm usually not that far off.
It's difficult to believe that today is my last full day at home... Tomorrow, probably around 11 AM, I'll be getting ready to head back up to college.
Oh, I should note that yesterday, I actually drove my car (to get my hair cut) - first time I've actually been behind the wheel in over 6 weeks. I didn't realize that I had missed driving so much... I still don't like driving all that much, but there is something soothing about it when there's not much traffic.
I still haven't got the playlists set for my iPod... I'm either going to have to do that sometime today/tomorrow morning, or I'm going to have to use my Lyra in the car, instead of my iPod --I have a specific playlist for driving to college... It just wouldn't be the same if I listened to something else... And it's a bit difficult to get my songs to play in order with the way the iPod has my music organized.
Five seconds of "OMG!!!!"
On Tuesday, I had to go get fitted for a tux for my brother's funer--err, I mean wedding... damn him, for forcing the ushers to wear a tux, and damn him for forcing me to be in the wedding as an usher... Anyway, there was this cute guy, who I thought, "Oh My..." when I walked into the office to get measured... He first got the measurements for my dad, and then me... It was a little odd when he got my waist measurement... It almost seemed like he was hugging me~ he held on a little longer than I thought he needed to... Which isn't bad for a cute guy ^_^ ~sigh, short-term fantasy.
Okay, I finally have to put this in my journal... Michael Woods is an idiot.
My parents get The Toledo Blade as a daily news paper, and each Saturday good ol' Mike does a column called "The Machine" -- he's done a lot of different topics, from "Un-sending your Email" to "Search Engine tricks" to "Scrubbing your old computer" -- Mike has an uncanny ability to come up with an article title that sounds interesting, like that Search Tricks article, and then leaves me totally unfulfilled. Search Tricks was pretty much those google utilities, like Weather, Calculator, and Converter... Un-sending the email was all about things such as "leave messages in the outbox until I close outlook." Little things that have nothing to do with the topic at hand. The "scrubbing your old computer" talked more about deleting old files, but mentioned nothing about how people can still recover that data... Gotta zero it out man, never resell a computer without zeroing!
~Sigh... His article this week, search tricks should have included some mention of items such as how to do boolean searches and using items such as site: tags to further control the results of searches... Since there are books on the topic (such as
Google hacks) you think Mikey could have done a better job than just mentioning some of the google utilties.
I forgot where, but...
there were some break-ins at a university in my area (one of those fairly big schools in the area... U of M, Mich State, Bowling Green, U T... one of those I think...) It worries me to hear that, because I cannot take everything home with me over each break... I have to leave some clothes up there, computers, DVDs... Lots of crap. There's never been a case of "over the break break-ins" at Baker of Owosso (that I'm aware of), and sine my RA stayed over break, I'm pretty sure that things are A-Okay up there, but still... I hate news like that.
Quick Anime Review!
うた〜かた(Uta~kata), School-dramaUta~kata... Alright, I've finished watching the anime. I did decide to keep it (DVD+R format was easiest to manage, so it's on that...) I ended up changing my rating (in my
previous journal) from 3 out of 10 to 5 out of 10... One point because the last few episodes were decent, and another point for a unique attribute of the anime... A special outfit was presented in each of the 12 episodes for the main character... And each of these outfits was designed by a different artist, and there were well-established anime artists, doing shows like love hina, excel saga and several others that I cannot remember off the top of my head... And that is something that I look for in an anime... Although, not having a decent plot sort of overrides that fact.
Remaining on the Great List o' Anime:
Elfen Lied, Ah My Goddess, Kino's Journey, Mahoromatic (seasons 1 and 2), Prince of Tennis, Suzuka, Yakitate!! Japan, and Kurau Phantom Memory. I've been pretty lazy recent, and I didn't really look much into these shows (accept for the golden oldies I've got there on my list) before I downloaded them. A bit of a gamble, but we'll see how it works out (it's probably going to be like all the other times though...)
Waaa! I totally forgot to download the Prince of Tennis musical! I doubt that I'll be able to get it done now, but I should be able to queue that up to download while I'm off to college!
AnimeNfo!!
I should mention that I'm really glad that AnimeNfo changed their theme again... It's now quite anime-centric, where as the previous one was very much a holiday theme, and the one before that had a very "Mac OS X" feel to it. I kind of liked the OS X look of the older AnimeNfo, but this look isn't all that bad either.

http://www.AnimeNfo.com [ rant ] Chrysler Financial calling...
CF has been calling me again. After asking for the um-teenth time to NOT be called again, I got mad. I picked up the phone and told the guy that I've received over a dozen calls and voice mails from CF in the past two weeks, and that each time I have requested to not be called anymore. I also told him that from now on, if there is another call, that I shall just be hanging up on him (instead of letting the phone ring my ear off, or spending ten minute explaining that I don't know Brendis, and that I've had my cell number leased for almost five years now, and requesting not to be called again). I felt bad for the guy, it's not his fault, but there seems to have been little progress.... I should mention that they haven't called me in several days now, but that's probably just because it's the weekend. I expect to get another call within the week.
