Well, now that my hair is very much dyed, my grandmother's isn't. Seeing her without red hair for the first time in my life was a bit disconcerting, and it reminds me of the fact that she is indeed the grandmother of six grown kids (there are more not yet grown up, but...yeah). Grandaddy seemed to be doing well enough, and I got to see Emily, Alex, and Will.
Traipsing about in the woods was fun, even if it was to serve as scribe/photo model for scale purposes while we made a survey of all the pretty old oaks that got blown down in the creek bottom. If I hadn't been having such a fun time climbing around on them, I'd have wanted to cry. I also learned how to use a Biltmore stick and where the sweet spot on a kaiser blade is. My brother seems to be part idiot and part monkey, as he made it his mission this weekend to touch the ground as little as possible, no matter how unstable the branches he was walking on were. >.< I forget how annoying/...male he can be when I'm not living with him, I guess.
I've also got about two dozen bug bites on my arms, but no poison ivy, it seems. By some miracle, it seems my brother may have escaped it as well.
