So tonight I went out with my best girlfriend here in Germany, B; the guy my husband works with and his wife (G and C respectively); and one major asshat (A). Keep in mind that I am the only one in the group who either isn't in the military currently, or had past military service. I felt really left out a good percentage of the time (military talking about military) and then the rest of the time, I spent being turned off by major asshat. Seriously, for a man who 'claims' to have a fiance who he plans to marry and have children with, he sure was eyeballing all the women at the table. It was disgusting, to say the least.. and that is without mentioning the fact that he knows everything about everything ever.
I wonder if people who are that self absorbed get tired of talking/hearing/thinking about themselves? Doubtful, since he seemed to fill 4 hours of my evening with talk all about him; his thoughts, his theories, his this, his that.. on and on and freaking on. On top of all that, act like a big shot and pay for the entire meal. Part of me feels bad for not thanking him (really hard to get a word in edgewise), and then the other part (you know, the redhead part) thinks that it was all a way for us ladies to swoon over him and then in some twisted way, owe him. Jesus, I hate that feeling; owing him.. makes me feel all creepy. I'm sure this will parlay itself into some twisted dream about me ripping off his testicles with my teeth.. one can hope, anyway.
So anyway, I spent a good majority of the night feeling left out. Kinda like the little kid at the grown-ups table; all the talk is over their heads. It was so bad, either they were talking military (no clue), where they all had travelled (haven't been to many places), or the other two women were swooning over the asshat (not even gonna go there). What a wonderful way to spend one of the last nights with my husband. There were parts of it that were good, but for the majority of the time it blew ass.
Anyway, the resturant was nice, very few complaints. I had a farmer steak (steak with cheese in the middle), I ordered it medium rare, but it came pretty close to well done. The kicker, though, was the tarimisu for dessert. Can I say amazing? Too yummy, really. Adam had a porterhouse, and I kept kicking myself thinking I should have gotten a small one of those; his looked really yummy, and they didn't overcook it. The atomosphere was great.. just like an american steak house.
