Our field got mowed last week. It now looks like a gigantic green lawn, with large white marshmellows (21 of them this year!) around its perimeter. Many, many argiopes (those large yellow and black spiders that I love) and lots of mice and other small mammals lost there lives in the mowing. The farmer said he saw some little ferrets playing but apparently ran them over. Wonder what they were. As soon as the tractors left the field, about a dozen crows arrived to eat the remains of the creatures demolished by the mowing. I hate that.
Today, we saw a coyote loping across the field. He saw or heard us on the deck and stopped and looked up at us. I try to get the cats to understand the danger they are in. Kobi has been really good lately at staying inside the radio fence we put up two weeks ago. I am beginning to think it will work. (Hope so, it cost $177. (EBay))
Going to go watch the Samurai movie with Tom Cruise.
Oh, Nana will be here from around August 25 to Sept.3. We will have to come over to Dover, or you will all have to come here, at least once during that time.
