My first real volunteering experience

Basically, when the week started I was actually quite expectant of many kinds of activities. In september 12, I went to a PSA (Progressive Student Alliance) meeting, then a GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance; I think this is my favorite group, lots of fun, jokes, etc in the meetings.), and then a paintball club meeting. In between GSA and Paintball, the president of the PSA (A. Cisneros) told me of a distinct possibility of me becoming a co-president for the PSA. Why? I don't know exactly, I think I kind of impressed her with my knowledge via Facebook (since I spoke about SDS, which she didn't know about, and probably something I mention when discussion 9/11).

Then, for friday and saturday, I went volunteering for the Red Cross at the behest of "El Club de Espanol." The experience was quite interesting, informative, sometimes boring-sometimes fun, and I met interesting people (from FGCU). The situation was that many people had their houses flooded and were taking shelter in gym at the local park. A grand majority of these refugees were Mexicans, thus my raison was due to my Spanish abilities. The only task that was the most "spanish intensive" was helping someone out to fill out a form (written in English...why aren't some government forms available in both languages? In PR I think one could get government forms in either language just by asking.) At one point part of the Mexican consulate personnel from Miami (I was able to tell they were from Miami before everyone else found out due to the way they dressed! I also helped them out as well in the end.) came over and prepared some people passports just in case they decided to leave. That reminds me that I need to re-new my passport as well.

Now sunday I have to do my math work...however my roommate seems more intent on going to the mall. I hope I could finish up quickly my math so we could end up going after all.
