Just about camp time!

Well camp has crept up on me pretty fast here...  Time for one last entry before I go off to see how I like running the camp.

I've applied to a few other schools.  Got one rejection back yesterday.  Had an interview a while ago, and didn't get that job (they have a beautiful campus, but I didn't really feel like I would fit in well there).  My latest application is to a high school in a tiny little town way south of here (not WAY south, still in Missouri, but two counties down from where I am now).  I have to say, I'd really like to get it.  And the ad has been on MoREAP since April (I missed it somehow), and is there until the position's filled...  Maybe nobody else wants it, and I can be the only one, so they'll have to hire me!  :)  That's the way I like it!!  I mailed it with insufficient postage, which caused some tension with my mom (who I asked to drop it in the mailbox for me), but then she went back and got the lady to take it out of the box so she could put the missing amount on it.  Aww...

I've been working at the barn on the weekends.  I really like our new horses.  My favorite this year (since Baxter didn't return to us) is a rather skinny, but quite strong, appaloosa gelding named General.  We're good friends!  A lot of trails have been canceled due to the weather.  It's been cool and rainy for most of the month.  Tomorrow's supposed to start a string of hot, sunny days, though!  :)

Hm...  I've gone out a lot with camp people.  I've seen a few movies.  The most recent two were Robin Hood and Iron Man 2.  Both very good, worth the $6.25 I paid for them.

Today is my last free day before I go to camp.  I went to the gym and canceled my membership, went to the Humane Society and looked at dogs, and did a thorough clean-out of Mr. S's tank.  It looks really good!  Tomorrow I'm going to the Renaissance Festival with Rosethorn, which should be way fun!  I want to watch a joust and get a big thing of caramelized nuts to take home with me.  And lots and lots of honey sticks.  Mmm...  I could eat honey all day.  Then when I get back home, I'll pack my car.  Sunday I'm working at the barn, and then when we're finished there, I'll go down and move my stuff into Guest House for the next 10 weeks!  I'll bring Mr. S with me as well.  I'm pretty excited about him going with me, I think he'll like it as long as nobody pulls on him or teases him.

I had intended to make some important lists for next week today, but... I did not.

Yesterday, Hawaii and I drove down to deep downtown ("the hood", we decided) to pick up one of the camp cars.  Then after we dropped it off, we drove down to camp.  We were early (and starving), so we stopped for lunch on the way.  I went to Subway, and totally recruited a girl who came in looking for a job.  Subway wasn't hiring, but camp sure is!  :)  I don't know if anything will come of that, but it would be pretty cool if something did!

I've been writing bits of a story, which I kind of intended to be steampunk-esque, but I'm not sure it really is.  Possibly a little.  But it's fine.

I've also had brief periods of not wanting to go back to camp at all, but that's always in the middle of the week when I haven't been there in a while.  I love working at the barn, and I'm really excited to meet all the new staff members and see what exciting new experiences, opportunities, and qualities this year will bring to me.

I'm bringing my laptop to camp, and we do have a little area of wifi this year which I'll be taking advantage of, but I will probably not update anything here until the session breaks.  I probably won't have time for much more than checking e-mail and facebook now and then.  I'm sure there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth over THAT!
