It's October, and starting to get chilly over here! I needed more than my T-shirt and sandals (and pants, you fools!) when I went down to dump my plastic bottles in the recycling today. Brr!
I've been adventuring and playing and relaxing every weekend. Lots of fun. I think my list of things to do in Busan is pretty much complete, though I still wouldn't mind a visit to Dr. Fish if I can ever find it again.
I had an adventure with the immigration office. They sent me a "Get out of Korea!" letter, reminding me that my visa expired October 25. That's fine, except my work contract expires October 29 (27 with vacation days). So after much asking, research, phone calls, etc. I finally managed to file an application online, after scanning my flight ticket out of Busan. And a couple days later, I received a text message saying my application had been accepted. Yesss! So I won't be charged huge extra fees at the airport. Always good news.
I've made plans to travel the Great Ocean Road in Australia with my friend Oz (my live-in a couple years ago). Yay! I'm staying with Splash (from last year), but she can't pick me up form the airport... Neither can my other two Australian friends, they all have school/work. So I'll look into airport buses and such, and probably find a place to hang out for a few hours until Splash gets off. Whee! Plans for Japan still include fleeing the airport and staying at capsule hotels in Tokyo. And praying that my flight from Tokyo to St. Louis is unaffected by that. It'll be fine! If it's not... I guess I'll have to spend my money. Lame.
Beat LoZ: Phantom Hourglass. What a great game! I'm playing it again now. Spirit Tracks is on my list of games to get when I get home/when it comes out, even though I'm not so excited about the train right now. I looked up Australian game prices, because I thought it might be cool to get a game while I'm there... but they're about twice the price of American games. No thank you!
I have two fish and a shrimp left at home. And apparently my mom broke the filter last time she cleaned out the aquarium (today), so I may not have those soon. I'm pondering what to do with the tank if this is the case (and even if it's not the case). We shall see!
My list of things I need to do before leaving:
- Dentist
- Doctor (with camp form)
- Haircut (possibly)
- Send a couple more packages home
- Get rid of the stuff I'm not keeping
- Give some presents
- Transfer money home
- Change money to Australian and Japanese currency
- Close bank accounts
- Collect pension money
- Possibly more things.
I'll be sad to leave. Life is good right now.
