This week was pretty good. On Monday I moved a girl in my worst class, only she refused (nasty attitude, that one!). So I did something I could never do in America. I picked her up by the shoulders of her coat and carried her across the room. She kicked and resisted, but only half-heartedly. Then for the remainder of the class she made faces at me and refused to do a few things until I forced her. She also hit the boy next to her, who has some obvious mental problems, which was not okay. I went all scary-teacher on her for that.
Also, my most advanced regular class only consists of one girl... but she's nowhere near as great as the last tiny advanced class I had. On Tuesday she forgot her books, and since there weren't any students for her to make copies from, I had to let her copy my book, and told her to do all the work at home and check with the answers on her copies. It would have been SO simple just to copy the answers. That's what I would have done. But she came in on Thursday with NOTHING. Then she proceeded to try to get me to give her all the answers for the class work too. I was rather annoyed.
My mom is sending a package of summer clothes, but it was too heavy and expensive, so she took out my most immediate needs (pants). Alas!!! So I had to go hunting for pants that would fit me. Most Korean clothes are made for tiny little people, which I am not. So I looked all over... including "Texas Street," which is the Chinese/Russian neighborhood famous for hookers and rumored to have bigger sizes. I didn't really see any clothes that would do, and I think it was too early for hookers. Luckily, after some size research and measurement conversions, I discovered that Homeplus, the mega-Wal-Mart-type store where I do the majority of my shopping, carries a few things in my size. They're slightly tight in unexpected places, and rather long, but they do fit! Success!
So that was my Saturday. After that I came home and made curry, and it was good. Then Heather and I went on a short boat cruise around the harbor. Unfortunately it was dark, so we couldnt see anything, and cold, so we couldn't stay out on the deck for long. But it was still an interesting time. Then on Sunday I went to the aquarium. It was great! My favorite part was the huge shark tank. For an extra $5 or so I could have gone out on it in a glass-bottomed boat, but after I saw the boat and the alternate view that came with the regular price of admission, I decided it wasn't worth it. They also have a thing where you can have a short scuba lesson and then swim with the sharks... I might consider that some day!
I've also been having problems with Firefox. It logs me out of everything whenever I close it, even though I have everything set to remember me each time I start it, and it was never an issue before. I checked everything, clicked and unclicked, uninstalled and reinstalled... no good. So I'm using Internet Explorer, because even though I don't like its style as much, at least it remembers me.
