A while ago Jeremy asked me to make a blanket for his aunt expecting a baby. I went a little over the top and also made a tote bag and zipper pouch. I guess since I'm learning, I just saw it as practice. I'm pretty impressed with this, actually, although I could use a little bit more practice when it comes to zippers. I always forget to leave holes in linings to turn things out again. So my lining on the pouch is icky. But I don't mind, and other than that, the rest of this tote looks pretty darn clean, sewing wise.
Isn't the fleece for the blanket adorable? They aren't finding out the sex of the baby (awesome!), but that presented a little challenge in finding a suitable fabric. That fleece was perfect.
And while lolitas might like stuff that would match a baby pattern, I don't think most grown women would agree. Which is why I chose the flower pattern with the contrast stripe lining. This is for someone I haven't met, so I don't know if it will even match her tastes at all. C'est la vie! I think it's cute so someone will agree with me somewhere!
So for this baby shower gift, I spent less than $20 in materials. Time was somewhere around 3 hours for all pieces.
I really am getting better at this. And now I have an idea for what to put that stupid cupcake applique on. :D
I learned that I kind of fail at centering pockets. Originally the stripes were gonna be the outside until I sewed on the pocket ever so slightly crooked.
