Flow gently, I'll sing thee a song in thy praise;

Well, the in-laws are safe in California and our livers are healing. The guy that picks up our recycling is recovering from having to lift all those bottle into the truck. His back was helped by the ass-hats who decided to stop by around 10:30 Sunday night and help themselves to 8 tons of Diet Coke cans. It wasn't 8 tons. But close. We had a relaxing visit for once. We didn't over plan and we didn't force Ian's parents to take us out for nice dinners and strolls along the aisle of Powell's. We chilled and sat in the backyard and read, drank wine, and solved the world's problems. It was a good time. On Sunday, Ian and his dad went to Lowe's to get the materials to create a lasagna garden.

They built the first of three that are going in the backyard and then Ian filled it with compost and shredded paper and another assorted items.

Before the compost was shoveled in, we had a newspaper shredding party. Ian's mom looks mad but she was really good at shredding.

The bins fit nicely along our back fence. We are going to plant some carrots, beets, and garlic in a few week and take advantage of the nice weather.

I took advantage of the nice light in the backyard during the shredding party and took a picture of this tree that hangs over our house.  It used to shed a metric buttload of pine needles on our house but not so much anymore now that our neighbor trimmed a few of the limbs.

And in the totally random department, here is a picture of two businesses that need to separate their signs a bit better.

fun with in-laws!, picture pages, composting
