When I was a kid I used to make fun of my parents for making lists. I'm sitting here at my desk with various lists scattered around the top. There's a list of music I want to get, a list of things I have to done this weekend, my training list, and a book list. Who knew?
One of the things on my list is to pick up the house before the arrival of the In-Laws. The office is cluttered, the living room is cluttered and the spare bedroom is cluttered and the bed is half made.
This house needs a good cleansing. It's dark and rainy today (good Pacific NW summer weather) and I'm making chicken stock and I feel the urge to de-clutter the house. I have a lot of paper that needs to find its way to a recycle bin and crap that needs to find its way to the landfill.
I have "buy groceries" crossed off my list and found a good deal on Diet Coke for the MIL. If she drinks more than a case of Diet Coke while she's here, I'm taking her to the Betty Ford Clinic.
I took my time buying groceries today and listened to music and wandered around town. It felt good to not be rushed and have time to wander and sing guilty-pleasure songs in the car.
In other news, my job is going to be changing at work and that's a good thing. My boss told me they were going to do some rearranging in the office and have me work as the "receptionist" but also do web design, marketing, and be the events coordinator for next year's summer events. They haven't had a good receptionist since I first started my job. If I was just answering phones and filing, I'd be insulted but they are going to have me do other things as well. I'll be an assistant to the GM and anyone else in the Admin. Department that needs me.
It also means I'll be working Monday through Friday. Woot! I'm happy about the change. I was getting bored with leasing boat slips and the GM wants the leasing staff to be more aggressive. No thanks. Not sure when I start the new position but I should find out next week some time.
My list isn't getting any smaller while I blog, so I should really start doing some house chores. Ian just turned his compost pile and was making happy noises about how much steam it has. The worms in the pile are also making happy noises because he added three big bags of coffee grounds. Nothing like caffeinated worms to get your compost pile to break down even more!
