paper

I did it. I fell for an ad. I saw it, I thought about it, I read many many reviews. I let time pass and kept thinking about it.

I like writing checklists for my day. When talking to people in meetings, I usually prefer to take notes by actual writing, not typing. I got in the habit when doing it in person and it made people more comfortable to see me writing instead of on a computer. My typing is very fast, but it works out better in the long run if I write my draft in the moment, then type it all up logically later. So I go through spiral notebooks, about one every 4-6 months. Then I have to rip them apart and shred the paper, just in case. I can't say I like that last part. There are currently three notebooks in my office waiting to be shredded.

So I saw this ad for a Remarkable. It would replace my series of paper notebooks.

So when the new year came and I had a new technology bonus of $200, I bought it. Of course, the tech bonus won't pay for all of it, but it does help.

Now I've been using it for a week. It slotted into my working and personal life like two notebooks. Smoothly. Today I realized that not only can I write on more than a single page each day, I can actually go a bit crazy in writing as much as I want on each day on multiple projects. I kind of love that.

The reviews were entirely correct. It is like writing more than writing on a Note or ipad tablet is. It is less a perfect writing experience than paper and my favorite pen is.... But I can erase. Which is worth the sacrifice.
